Unrealistic electricity distribution
Is anyone else slightly annoyed by how simplified it is? A single, not very thick, wire can easily cary unlimited amount of current. Not even speaking about voltage. Pipes have limitations, why not wires? The whole electrical system could be much more complex and interesting. Instead we just have to run around and turn off devices when "fuse" (also wrong, actually a breaker) blows...

Nope. Works for me. And it works for the devs, too, as they released a video a while ago about trying and not liking an advanced power system as you're describing.

Name a factory game with realistic power?
NashEquil Jul 10, 2024 @ 12:25pm
Yeah cause pointing a wand at the ground and assembling a machine from a hologram is realistic.

Not annoyed at all. I love how it works "current-ly" (See what I did there?)

The thing is, wire literally is the functional asset you'll build the most. If I had to upgrade every single one of them to mk2 cables after getting 10GW I would be PISSED!!

I'd say the game is complex enough as it is.
It is still supposed to be a factory and logistics game after all, not a factory and logistics simulator.
But if someone wants to make a mod with a more complex and realisitc power system, I'd say more power to them (pun intended ofc).

It's a game not an electrical grid simulator

You should make a mod for it, I'm sure others would appreciate it.

Nope. It's fine.

It would be an unnecessary complication and not a fun one
Scoob454 Jul 10, 2024 @ 1:23pm
Yeah realistically, it doesn't work. Though, if it were realistic I don't see many people enjoying the idea of having to use the correct wire gauge based on current/voltage. Not to mention bringing voltage drop other variables into the equation.

agreed...and lets all keep in mind here folks...believe it or not some elements in this game are already very difficult for lets say....players who are new to critical thinking? if they found electricity too complex they literally couldn't play the game and down vote it. this would be a massive wall. the fence between playable or not playable. the more complex setups are optional in this game.

My point was: belts have limited capacity, pipes have limited capacity, so why not wires? We already have to deal with it on several levels, it's one of core mechanics of the game. Only
wires are somehow capable of transferring unlimited amount of resources.

Plumbers are well represented, but us, industrial electricians, are left out. :)

Who's Jeff?
A mod would be great. I searched for it, but it seems none exist. People are making the game more complicated by making mods with extra recipes, machines etc, but nobody thinks of electricity :)

I would be more annoyed if they make it more complicated.
