Why is there a mod to remove the spiders entirely? I dunno. Maybe people are scared of cat JPEGs.
In either case, the game's arachnophobia mode will completely remove the spider's appearance, so no worries about accidentally seeing one.
as the the others mentioned - you can turn the spiders into JPEG cats via options
I recall a mod for System Shock 2 for people with extreme arachnophobia. Since they apparently couldn't simply delete the spiders the mod made them silent, invisible, immobile, disabled their AI, reduced them to one hit point, and die the instant they loaded in. Overkill? Maybe. But effective.
You'd think there would be more phobia and sickness awareness among the game developers :(
