Excess Fluid Issue
Hi all

I picked this up in the Steam Sale and this game is honestly amazing.

I'm up to Stage 3 for the Space Elevator, long story short I need to produce "Fuel" to create resin for one of the materials needed, but what do I do with excess fuel once my fluid buffers are full, is there any recipes that use it? If my buffers become full the refinery shuts down which causes a huge grid lock in my production

Thanks in advance

You need a trick to dispose of it....

You need do use a fluid packager (input, any fluid... input empty canister)
and outputs a canister with that fluid....
that canister can then be shipped as item anywhere and unpacked or... sent to an AWESOME sink

Look forward in the milestones, there is a new power source which is using fuel.

Until you have that set up either store it or flush the buffers from time to time.

that won't be good for an automation, setup and forget....
Better sink it after having packed it.... (valid for any fluid to dispose of for any reason)

then if needed later... just stop packaging and use it

Sure, but that requires a different milestone to be unlocked. So you would first have to unlock a different milestone before unlocking the milestone to get fuel power. It is easier to just unlock the milestone for fuel power and until then either store or flush the excess for the time being.

There is variety in this game. The player himself decides what he needs. Nobody bothers you to have fuel generators and send the excess to a container. If the container is full, send unnecessary items to the sync. Or discover alternative recipes that allow you to build a chain of converting oil into rubber/plastic without by-products. As far as I remember, for easier use you need a blender and this goes on until the end of the game.

But yes, at the very first steps of getting plastic / rubber. You can build a buffer for the products and just flush it.

What are you trying to make resin for that you don't already have fuel generators? If you're trying to make plastic or rubber, just make them directly. The byproduct of those is heavy oil residue, which can be processed into petroleum coke and burned in coal power plants. No flushing buffers, or dealing with packaging.

Whatever you decides to do, try to keep material production and power generation in a separate system. I currently have that in one integrated factory. What happened was for whatever reason(s) the material production(s) gets backed up a bit, fuel production doesn't get 100% efficiency, result in power generation fluctuating. You don't want that.

Yeah, anything involving power production should have a failsafe. Like in this case you might have a sink to process excess rubber or plastic in order to make sure the coke keeps flowing.
Or just attach a light to the coke burner, and nothing else since for some reason power plants won't run if there's zero draw on them.

Thank you very much, irony is I tried to put the fuel directly into the Sink before seeing your comment not realising it can't take liquid.
