Is the shimmering of moving objects an unfortunate byproduct of Lumen?
Title. I have a basic understanding of how Lumen works and it's limitations, I also have an issue where things moving across the screen will leave a "shimmering" trail affect. I'm assuming this because Lumen's light rays take a tangible amount of time to "bounce" off of surfaces, so is that the cause? Also has anyone found a solution that does not involve disabling Lumen? It's not a dealbreaker, but it is kind of annoying. I just really like how Lumen changes the dynamics of the environment.

Do you mean on conveyor belts?

Yes pretty much.

Ok, I had posted a similar question while ago....
Issue is related with engine changes and support with DLSS and other configuration....

Later I'll try to scavenge exact option to change

This is not Lumen's side effect/bug. The upscaling methods cause this, all of them: DLSS, TSR and FSR. Set upscaling to "None" and choose TAA antialiasing.

Yea, like Zak said, it is the upscaling. Had the same thing on my game. Tried all of the upscaling options and got ghosting all over the place.
Sad because I would love to have lumen on (even though not technically supported) because it looks fantastic.

Oh thank you so much, definitely didn't think of upscaling being a problem, not even a huge fan of it anyway.

But Lumen should still work, even without upscaling. These two are not connected. However, DLSS should give you a speed boost if you have NVIDIA GPU to offset Lumen's performance penalty. Though, for me, DLSS stopped doing that. I get no speed boost from DLSS, it worked when 8 was in beta, then it stopped.

It did work but like you mentioned, needed the upscaling to keep the game at a decent frame rate. The ghosting effect was annoying though so I turned it all off.
Interestingly though, when lumen was on, I got a strange speckling and shifting of the door textures which was annoying as well.
