For those of you who play on a laptop, don't you find that even with the charger, the battery discharges?

That's common with a lot of performance intensive games. Try changing the power settings on the laptop from performance or balanced to efficient. It will reduce game performance, but you will get more time out of your battery.

Laptop CPU/GPUs can draw more power than the power supply can provide.
If an intensive process like a game pushes the hardware that high, either the battery will drain, or the CPU/GPU will throttle, reducing game performance.
Which of those happens depends on the OS power settings, as Aven described.

You might also be able to get a better charger. Laptop chargers will be rated in watts. Find out the wattage of your current charger and then check to see if your laptop can use a more powerful charger.

It depens on the laptop design.
Some laptops can draw more power than charger can supply.

More serious one, offer two chargers. One for travel (smaller) and one bigger to be used while gaming.

laptops are not for 3D-gaming.. even "gaming-laptops" LOL.. but most of them have the possibility to "deactivate" the battery while playing with the powercord put in to let them longer live.

That would just cause the laptop to shut down or throttle immediately. The battery is draining specifically because the charger alone cannot provide enough power. Reducing the available power isn't going to help anything.

I found some good upgrades to the batteries for my Laptops on Amazon. With more powerful batteries. And it is always good to leave them plugged into power when playing any 3D game, and even some of the 2D games. (Like Factorio)

There are many gaming laptops that should work fine for this game.

And if you are getting a new laptop, make sure that the batteries plug in externally.

I had to disassemble one of my laptops and it was difficult. Even with several years experience working in Microsoft Hardware.

I don't currently use a Laptop for this game though.

I have an 18inch laptop with a 2k panel, 14900HX, 4070, and 32gb@5600

I have seen this happen in other games when performance is maxxed out.

Sounds like your laptop power supply might be getting ready to fail, might be a good idea to check that.

As for heavy gaming causing performance issues on laptops, I rarely see that on my several year old Asus RoG gaming laptop since it was built for what I run it through, the only time I see the battery drain is when my apartment loses power or a breaker trips.

Don't say that your PSU is faulty.
But that can be the travel version (smaller, lighter)

A friend of mine has an ASUS ROG laptop and he have two distinct PSU. One more powerful and bigger to be used at home/office... The other while travelling.

Don't know if both PSU are given automatically or only as a plus.
