game needs real roads
ive been building a road that leads to my oil factory for nearly 2 hours and im only 20% done

id love to have real roads instead of using foundations and using tricks to build curved roads

The real nice thing is the roads include a service tunnel underneath the roads to run pipes and belts if needed. If you download the "Infinite Nudge" mod, it gives you the ability to nudge blueprints vertically (something that should be in the base game already but isn't) which helps a lot with placing the road blueprints.

Road curvature could need some love. However I'll argue that the map was designed to be widely manoeuverable, you don't need long roads, just some connections here and there to close gaps or bypass obstacles

i make roads because some paths are a bit bumpy and i dont want to just have a weird foundation bump in the path just so the truck AI can smoothly traverse the terrain

check out whatdarrenplays on youtube. he makes his blueprints available to download for free. I've got a full highway system(minus curves, tho)

def needs curved foundations and curved walls and windows - this would make our building a lot easier for non-standard type factories. I doubt we will see it tho...

Yea I totally understand, and roads can look cool as well. But in case you're having a hard time with roads and feeling the burnout creeping in, you know you can drive across entire biomes obstacle free

the best path to my oil factory has bumps which can end up with the truck flipping, thus never delivering the resources i sent it to collect with autopilot

patching those bumps only makes it kinda look weird so i want an actual road instead

Thank you very much Chipu

and you are totally right: it should be in the base game.

The only one change I would recommend to the blueprints is to load each one into the blueprint designer and remove the street lights and save the blueprints. It is just a personal choice of mine as having to run back and reconnect them to power was a big pain. My next play through, I'm going to do just that.

And if you need help understanding how to use the Edu's blueprints or the Infinite Nudge mod, just hit me up.

Oh, and this applies to any road blueprints, make sure to throw down some foundations before you start laying down roads. This way you can make sure that the roads themselves will be aligned to the world grid. You only have to do this for the first road blueprint. any road blueprint connected from here on will be aligned to the world grid.

Infinite Nudge also allows you to rotate foundations in tiny increments, 5 Degrees, I think. Not perfect, but you can fairly easily and quickly create decent curves, much better than anything possible in vanilla.

Still, I'd like to see proper roads too. For a game relying so heavily on logistics it's frustrating not to have proper roads.

Nice, I loved the addition of the nudge function and wasn't aware of this mod. I have just installed it, looks pretty handy. I 'nudge' almost everything these days :steamhappy:

Also, this modder, SirDigby has some other QoL mods that you may like. Infinite Zoop is another classic by now :)
