Should i start over or rebuild my factory?
So i have built a factory over around 70 hours now. But the problem is that i built my factory very carelessly and now it looks like spaghetti with all of the conveyor belts and what not. I have seen some tips and guides on how to make your factory better and more organized and now Im thinking of rebuilding my factory or should I just start a new save? Btw I am very close to nuclear power but not yet.

I at least need to check my iron line. I dont think its as effective as it can or should be.

I use the map editor here: https://satisfactory-calculator.com/en/interactive-map

clear the map of my buildings (keeping only the slugs and tickets in inventory), and start over

that way I don't need to go get hard drives again

I would not rebuild until you have all tiers unlocked and all hard drives unlocked. Unless it is really bothering you. Just move over and keep building stuff until every thing is unlocked, then figure out what you want to build. Then delete everything and rebuild for the final elevator parts.

In my saves, I've had to rebuild 2-3 times through the progression. The first time is when you first get platforms. The 2nd time is when you get trains or even trucks. The 3rd time is your final build, and if you need a redo, then do it. Better to tear down and rebuild than start fresh in the same area. I find my train networks become spaghetti sometimes.

Also if you want to go fully over the top, here's a really neat system engineers guide to Satisfactory that I think is great (because systems engineering is great): https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2801485506

Don't start over, ever. Your first base will always be a mess. Learn from it and rebuilt, moving to better things. I have several thousand hours in Satisfactory and I've noticed a trend to how I build..

Base #1 - No foundations, everything is chaotic messy, everything is based Tier 1 belts and basic recipes. Power only through biofuel.

Base #2, usually replaces base #1 completely, uses Tier 2 belts for minimal functions, Gets me through steel processing and eventually coal power. I usually replace this when I am able to research the steel screw. I usually let this run a few days to build up enough mats (reforced plates, steel bars/pipes, etc.) to build base #3.

Base #3 - Go somewhere completely different on the map, but usually pretty close to base #2. Full tier 3 belts, steel screw recipe (!!) and enough alternate recipes to get me through aluminum, oil processing.

Base #4 - Often starts somewhere completely new. with good access to resources. Fuel power, Tier 5 belts, mostly alternate recipes. Eventually gets me through through the end of Tier 8, slowly but surely. This usually includes a "mall" where I have build outputs to storage containers for all consumables - Belts, motors, cables, wires, quickwire, etc. I use this to build...

Base #5 - My "end game" base where I begin with a goal in mind (i.e. 2/4 end-game parts per minute.) I usually pick a "theme" (rails everywhere, centralized base, highly distributed manufacturing, etc.) and build it up. This is where things get fun and you have to start to do heavy-duty planning. Nuclear power, eventually reprocessing to plutonium.

You will feel such a sense of accomplishment from rebuilding

Rebuilding without Blueprints unlocked is no fun. Either reload an old save file from just after you’ve just unlocked blueprints and start rebuilding from there or start a new game and rush directly to blueprints before worrying terribly much about early layouts.

Blueprints allows you to easily put together efficient, nice looking layouts. Also there is a delete mode to delete an entire Blueprint at once rather than all the individual parts — making wiping away entire factories and building them back up again fairly quick and easy.

Blueprints allows you to focus on what you’re trying to accomplish rather than the mundane details of placing parts over and over.

Rebuild. I rebuild in my stater area. I'll deconstruct everything. Stash all the materials in boxes. Start fresh with a nice foundations.

I'll typically keep my original base up and running until I get oil, turbo fuel, jet pack and cleared out a miminum of one third of alt-recipies at crash sites.

Also don't forget to purchase as many building stuff in the store with tickets.

I tend to do my first few tiers of spaghetti in starting area, then once I finally have coal power going I'll head out to one of the other starting areas and kinda "start over" there, only with better organization that leverages the tiers and pods I've unlocked. There are four major starting areas and usually by the time I am working on my third "start area" on a map, I'm at tier 6 or 7.

At this point I can go tear down my first spaghettis and repurpose them at whatever pace suits me for whatever goal suits me. Plus, since I have other "starting" areas my raw material production is never disrupted.

If you get into the habit of restarting maps then you're committing to finding those stupid pods all over again. I get the appeal that some of that random selection adds variety for some, but once I knew how I wanted to start building things late game the pods just became an annoyance such that on my last restart I just clicked the option to discover them all up front. I still run through the tiers as normal but pod-hunting just isn't fun after the nth map.

Wouldn't be in any hurry to rebuild until you've completed tier 6 (trains and mk4 belts).
And when you do, overclock every mk2 miner.

I've put 400+ hours in the first save. I was constantly rebuilding. I think it's impossible to get everything right the first time. I started another save, I'm few days into it and already a hot mess, preparing to rebuild...
