Fine rotation?
Isn't there supposed to be a fine rotation function, like if you hold ctrl? There isn't even an option in keybindings for it.

Oh yeah you can't do fine rotation on foundation set next to each other only on top (or Bottom)... You need to use the catwalk trick for curves for that....

my main want is to more accurately aim hypertube railguns for launching across the map. I can get pretty accurate with placing pillars in the general direction, but any fine-tuning the direction of the launch tube is impossible

yah but the default rotation on the ground is fine, and ctrl snaps. My original question was asking if ctrl enabled fine rotation (on foundations, which wasn't specified)

Freeforom a beam, place a pillar on the beam, place the mount on the the pillar... maybe...

As it turns out i was not incorrect. A screenshot would have shown the problem. You first didn't give the needed information that you were trying to build onto another foundation and when i asked you said it doesn't work with anything - and you specifically mentioned foundations too.
For technical questions it is basically always vital to give accurate information and screenshots or video as you have now posted are the best way to do that.
(and i mean i did mention that you can not fine-rotate foundations when they are snapping to each other).

People will always try to help but if you are not willing to give information why should everybody else guess what exactly you are trying to do?
But at least now you know :)

I asked if holding ctrl activated fine rotation, and it doesn't. The other information wasn't necessary, and you saying that the game functions with ctrl activating fine rotation on anything other than a foundation on top of a another foundation was in fact incorrect.

You ask if crtl activated fine rotation, and I said it does, want I didn't say was only within certain conditions, and it's not just Foundation on top of other foundation, Like its works on Catwalk Platforms (this is how people make curves), and a few other things.

How insufferable can somebody on the internet be? I didn't lie about not being able to rotate platforms on platforms, and "that's just how the game works, you must be doing something wrong" is a horrible answer. Ctrl in fact doesn't always give fine adjustments to rotating platforms. When I tried it, it was when placing a platform *next to* a platform, which doesn't work. I never had a need to place a platform on a platform that was slightly askew, so I never tried it. If you were more helpful with your information rather than just belittling me and telling me I was doing something wrong, then maybe I would be nicer to you. Also, it's not necessary to have to define using ctrl as a fine placement modifier on anything other than a platform because the default without a platform is already fine placement, which ctrl modifies as snap-to.
