Trucks without clearly separate lanes for each direction non-viable?
I was under the impression that if you are far away from vehicles they are supposed to not get rendered and simply glitch through each other if there was a collision.

But I recently noticed in my map that a tractor - in an area I never visit - was having trouble. Upon reaching it I discovered that two tractors were stuck on each other. They did not simply glitch through each other as I was expecting.

QUESTIONS:

1) Is this a bug where it is not behaving as expected?

2) Given this bug, other than for cosmetic reasons... is there any point in using tractors/trucks? I was under the impression that their purpose was to serve as an early alternative to trains for long-distance transport, but if they get stuck even when you are very far away... they seem to be quite pointless for anything but cosmetics.

3) Is there perhaps a setting that I need to set to enable the glitch-through other vehicles?

Trains you can have move back and forth on 1 track. Trucks need to have a circle loop to work correctly. So they don't run into each other and that is how the AI works. At least this is what I have learned playing the game.

Yes I understand - now - that is how they behave, although I remember seeing several posts about the "great advancement" that made trucks glitch through each other as a mechanism to address the fact that they often don't follow the exact path used in the original trip.

In this particular case they most definitely did not overlap paths in the place they got stuck, but rather had deviated slightly towards the return "lane", causing the collision.

If you turn the path nodes on you can see which one are too close to each other.

Once the path nodes which are pointing to eachother are removed the deadlock won't occur anymore.

The game gives only one easy to miss warning for the deadlock.
