Hard drives and alternate recipes... strategy when all of the recipes given are horrid?
I went to the MAM to get a new recipe for a hard drive and all 3 recipes it gave me are from the "never use these recipes" list:
- Biocoal
- Iron Alloy Ingot
- Copper Rotor

I remember that when watching a video someone mentiioned a way to reject all 3 recipes and get your drive back to try again later, but I can't remember what that way was. I even considered going back to an earlier save, but the only usable one is from 1-2 hours earlier, so I'd have to redo quite a bit.

Is going to that old save the only way (since I didn't make a manual save just before analyzing the drive)? Or is there something else I can try?

Thanks.

Back in update 0.8.3.1 you could just hit ESC twice to exit the MAM, then go back in the MAM and pick the Hard Drive again, and restart the research for a chance at 3 new recipes, without reloading your game.

Apparently they 'fixed' that, so now you're locked to having to pick a recipe, or reloading the game.

It was probably SpectrumDad's video

Copper rotor is fine; choose that and move on. Reloading an old save will waste all of the time you've already spent for no benefit. You can find other hard drives easily enough.

Correct me if wrong, aren't there more hard drives than alternative recipes to unlock? ie, if collect up enough HDDs you eventually get all of 'em (the good n bad) anyway?

Exactly right.

Copper rotor is an amazing recipe. I unlock it as fast as I can and then never use any other rotor recipe.

I use Iron alloy ingot with Copper alloy ingot in T4 to get 675 ingots from 2 nodes
Copper rotor is the best rotor recipe imo.

Get more drives and rule the baddies out asap.
