Awesome Sink optimal strategy
The obvious goal with the Awesome Sink is to get as many points as possible as early as possible. I have been reviewing the advice of the experts and this is what I concluded. Can anybody see a flaw in my thinking? (other than "just play and have fun, don't worry about optimizing")

- As soon as we unlock the Awesome Sink, build a full Concrete line, use a splitter to feed your storage container and Sink. Later you will use a Priority Splitter to send only Overflow to the Sink.
- Once you have priority splitters look at the point value of items in your line (https://satisfactory.fandom.com/wiki/AWESOME_Sink) to decide how to merge overflows on the way to the Sink to ensure that you send all or as many as possible of your high value items to be sunk.
- Once you have coal power you might increase the number of Sinks. Perhaps 3? And keep sending the highest point value items.

For an early game rule of thumb it seems to me that a natural progression sequence/order of the top item being prioritized for the sink is:
- Concrete
- If you find it, Raw Quartz, Caterium, or better yet their processed Quartz Crystal or Quickwire products.
- Excess Copper Sheet
- Rotors and Reinforced Iron Plate

Also, if you have power and are not ready to process Quartz or Caterium... you can sink at the mine site. You can collect all of the points from the Awesome Sink at your base.

Did I miss something?

I got around 60 tickets just from feeding in about 17-27 DNA Capsules into the SINK.
I didn't realize that the counter for the DNA capsules goes up WAAAYYYY slower than the item counter does.

About sinking Uranium ore... does it still work? I went and set it up, but when I looked at the wiki for points for the various items the Uranium Ore was not listed.

States 35points under "AWESOME Sink" heading of the Uraniam Ore page.. And yes, I confirm it works.

TY, although 35 points is awful little unless your starting point is very close, especially if you can find a quartz or caterium deposit nearby (which is likely). Both pay better and their Quartz Crystals, Silica and Caterium Wire are widely used even early on. I setup mini-factories for those two on-site, deliver the resulting products (not the ore) to my early base, store them and sink the excess. By the time I make reinforced iron plates and rotors I'm prioritizing those.

Still, good to know Uranium is another "very early" option, just like those Alien DNA capsules.

Silica is probally less effort for more coupons.

The Uranium Node I'm mining is on the "Ground Floor" in the Red Jungle
Do you mean the Red Bamboo Forest above Rocky Desert lake where the many Uranium deposits and the green Elite Stinger is? I searched over an hour and I can not find it

It's at -75,893 x 51,637 if that helps any.

You still talk about quartz crystal while you can get much more silica out of the same portion of raw quartz. Silica provides more points per resource.

For the most flexibale building things in the awesome shop like wall outlets, conveyor wall/ ceiling mount and conveyor floor hole you can sink alien dna and some crash site loot.

From there on you can make your way to coal power, mk2 miners, mk 3 belts and setup different factories on various locations.

It is true that Quartz and Caterium are closer.
But Uranium pays much more. You can not just look at the 35 - explained in full depth above (did you read it?) It is 35 multiplicated with maximum belt speed, which you don't reach with Quartz- or Caterium-products.

The main reason why I have chosen (and will always chose) the Uranium is that I want to have only ONE awesome sink in early game. It needs a lot of power and you said early game = biomass burner.

Even with enough power: 1x Uranium (plus Alien DNA) just delivers me more coupons than I ever need.

Roger and out.

Sure, one belt of uranium ore gives more points than one belt of silica. But you're forgetting a few things:

Uranium nodes are found alone, while quartz nodes usually come in pairs or even triplets. So you can get not one, but two belts of raw quartz from the same location. Quartz nodes also have a higher purity than uranium, although this largely doesn't matter since a Mk1 miner can fill a Mk2 belt from a normal node when overclocked.

Producing silica from quartz increases the volume. Three raw quartz makes five silica. While silica's 20 points per item is lower than uranium ore's 35, it's actually 33.3 per raw quartz. That's pretty close. And combined with the above one quartz location gives almost double the points compared to one uranium location.

This is a valid point, but please don't act like it makes uranium a universally best solution. It's simply different priorities regarding how early you want the coupons and how much power you're willing to put into getting them.

I didn't even bother setting up automated sinking until towards the end of phase 3. During phase 1, when power matters, I don't need anything from the shop because that factory is going to be torn down anyway so how it looks is not important. When I get to phase 2 and get plentiful coal power to start building my real factory I have enough production of various items that going out to a uranium node for coupons is not worth it; I can simply toss in a few stacks of modular frames or whatever when I need coupons. And the DNA capsules of course.

@zOldDog: Calculate the whole power consumption of all the Quarz Crystal- and Quickwire-production(!)

The Uranium Ore solution has the best power-performance-ratio that is possible.

Happy Pioneering, roger and out
