Switching fuels
My fuel generator was running on liquid biofuel, but my heavy residue buffers got full after a plastic run and I set them up to cycle back through the refinery to convert the residue into fuel. I was going to run the generator on that for awhile, got the pipes all set up, but right before it finished with the liquid biofuel, the generator powered down and refused to switch fuels.

How to I get it to switch? Is a fuel generator just locked into one type of fuel for its entire lifetime, so I have to completely rebuild it to switch fuels?!

need to flush the lines.... they still have biofuel residue in them. simply click on any pipe segment and you will see a lever to flush the entire pipe network, rotate that and it should fixit.

If the fuel is stuck in the fuel generator: Dismantle it and rebuild it.

Yeah, that's the problem. The generator shut down before it entirely ran out of fuel. Damn. Actually I'm thinking I should build a second generator, one per fuel, and use one at a time. At least until I need both.

Run them both for a while as soon you have build as many power storages as you could to fill them up. Then return to one.

Power storages are lossfree and deliver infinite power. They can handle every spike in consumation. You wanna have a big capacity of them.

Another good point... just as Update 8 drops. I wonder if I'll even be able to continue that save? I have to say, with the game still being early access, my hopes are not high. xD

stay positiv. most probably it will work.

just backup your savefile. and then close all other pgrograms and check the integrity of your Satisfactory game files:

Steam client - Library - in the left side bar RIGHT click on Satisfactory - Program Files - Check Intergrity of Program Files

Meh, I don't care that much. I may start a new game just to make sure I don't miss out on anything from the update. I really hope they either did something with the artifacts or disabled them until they do something. And I know how to verify the integrity of my files. It's usually me telling someone else to do that. xD

Something I recently found out, if you have the wrong items stuck in a refinery, generator, assembler, constructor etc, you can open the machine as usual by pressing E, then shift click on the item icon in the machine and that will remove it from the machine, another thing that you can try without deconstructing the entire generator, refinery etc, is to just delete the conveyor belt that's feeding the machine, it will remove that last piece of material that you can't grab using E. Then just rebuild the conveyor belt.

with shift single click. withhout shift double click. you can also click and hold to drag to your inventory

It's a fuel generator. We're talking about liquids. I can't put that in my inventory and it comes from pipes, not a conveyor.

yeah, that doesn't work with liquids :cchappy:

i mean, i have one to handle the residue, another on a separate system to handle liquid biofuel (when i let my storage just build up, i'm clearcutting and need to do something with all that stuff i get) and a third for main power, so it's just i little bit more complicated, but you don't need to babysit the system then.
You can always put the leftover fuel straight into the recycle bin, then the fuel generator will fill up with anything that is in the pipe connected to it :)

You can drag fluid from the machine inventory into the trash bin to delete it.
Kage Goomba Oct 31, 2024 @ 1:39pm
Holy Necro batman.

I just flush the pipes/network - faster.
