Right in the Experimental FAQ

If you play on Experimental, and as long as you don't turn on "Advanced Options", when Experimental goes LIVE, then your Experimental save will carry over.

The only thing I could find was this -

"Is the Experimental save file compatible with the new Early Access version after the patch released?
Yes! When the Exp. version moves to Early Access, your Exp. save file(s) will continue to work on the new stable version of the game."

No mention of any advanced setting options...I'm sure I've seen a few posts around stating using advanced settings won't carry over. They must be wrong then as the official FAQ doesn't state there nor does the red text ingame when using the advanced settings menu,

So I'm good then with my brand new mod free save I started yesterday, Unlocked up to Tier 4 so I could start fresh with the blueprint designer. Happy now

Update 8 is still experimental.

If you still want to give it a shot then right-click on the game in your Steam Library and go to "Properties". There you go to "Betas" and there you choose from the drop down menu the open beta. Let Steam download the files.

One caveat:

Backup your current saves, and IF you ever want to go back to the Stable Version, DO NOT load a save and check the "Use Advanced Settings" box.
That's a one-way trip for that save game.
If you backed up your saves, then you can use the "Use advanced settings" to try them out.
They're basically like Subnautica's Settings of Creative Mode, etc where you can just sandbox and have all the parts available etc.
If you backed up your saves, then if you want to go back to stable, just restore those

I'm curious too. This would mean they have set up an entire system for player's convenience, but you can't use it in the future.

It doesnt, its says you cant go back from Advanced options. I take this to mean if you go to EA once 0.8.2 is there you still have advanced options, thats all.

I always thought this would mean that you can reverse these options to get a pure vanilla save again, no matter what future version you use. But I could be wrong of course...

YOu can't, I tried it, once you activate Advanced Mode for a game and save it, it's permanent.

When Update 8 moves to Early Access, you will be able to load your Update 8 Experimental save in Early Access.

You cannot load your Update 8 savegame in Update 7 Early Access, you would need to wait for Update 8 to hit Early Access.

If you turn on Advanced Options in your Update 8+ savegame, you cannot turn it off again (except with 3rd party save editors), which may have an affect later on. E.g. It might prevent Achievments once they are added.

Typo. Sorry. I meant that I know that you cannot reverse a save to basic once the AGS has been activated, but if you activated AGS in a save, this savegame will be ok in future versions.

Couldnt have tried what I am saying as 8 isnt to EA yet.

You said above

"Backup your current saves, and IF you ever want to go back to the Stable Version, DO NOT load a save and check the "Use Advanced Settings" box."

Once 8 is in EA you should beable to revert to it with Advanced Settings still enabled. You cannot undo Advanced Settings on a save though which is what I said.

Though I do remember someone saying that Exp Update 8 AGS wont be compatible with EA U8, which only makes sense if its not going over right away. The link you posted is not helpful.

Yeah sorry but neither "Advanced Options" nor "advanced Game Settings" are mentioned in the post you linked to.

Yea, can't remember where I saw it, but I could've sworn it was a dev explaining about Advanced Options and backwards compatibility if you go want to back to the Release version.

When you select the option in the game, doesn't it WARN you about that?
Or does it just warn about going back to Release 7 in General?
I could've sworn it was specific to using Advanced Options, because "Advanced Options" isn't implemented in 7.

What it says is, in game, that if you turn on AGS, in that RUN, you cant turn it off again.

Yes, now you are onto it. You cannot revert a save back to current EA because it is still on 7. Once EA is 8 then you can.
