my Jetpack does NOT accept Turbo Fuel
Oh boy, what a big disappointment. For weeks I was looking forward to produce turbo fuel and feed my jetpack with it. Yesterday was the big moment: I was the very proud owner of 8 packages of turbo fuel ... only that my jetpack does not accept it!

I was told it should work. Has somebody an an idea WHY it doesn't work? Might it be that it only works with Update 8?

Okay

Is there any disadvantage of playing Update 8?

Have savegames been growing when changing to Update 8 or anything else?

ALWAYS make backups of savegames, folder, before trying experimental out.

I havent noticed many glaring issues since i started playing in U8 and i am using my 1st playthrough save, U7. Only real issue i have noticed is FPS drop overtime even without having built anything or destroyed flora and i have a decent rig. Not really concerned about the slight FPS drops as that type of thing happens in many other games also.

Update 8 is very buggy and unstable compared to Update 7.
There will likely be another map reset that will respawn creatures and plants.
A game saved in Update 8 cannot be loaded in Update 7. You would have to revert to an older savegame (make sure you keep backups, and don't rely on autosave)
Minimum computer spec has increased.
Not all mods work in Update 8, and more may break when the UE5.2 update lands.
The UE5.2 Update will also likely introduce more bugs and instability

hmmm ... no easy decision. I want a jetpack with turbo fuel but what you write doesnt sound good. maybe except the respawn of creatures and plants that make the savegames smaller and past sins are forgiven.

you can also distribute the packaged turbofuel in truck stations

The instability and bugginess of U8 seems to not be universal. For me it's working just fine aside from a few minor visual glitches, but some others are reporting frequent crashes. The best way to find out is to try it yourself. Remember to back up your saves first.

Bugs? U8 is as stable as.... a not well put together table.

I mean, this creature did not fall apart when it was running around me. It was meant to terrify me doing this trick

I’ve been running update 8 for awhile now, and I can’t really say I had any more problems, than what I had Update 7.

To play Update 8, switch from Early Access Branch to Experimental Branch through the Steam Betas tab in the Properties of Satisfactory.

You can always back up your save file and try it, and revert if you decide it's not worth it?

AFAIK, one universal bug in U8 is train signal colors not displaying correctly, so if you're gonna work with trains a bunch soon it'd be better to stick to U7. Other than that, yeah it's mostly limited mod availability and a die-toss whether it'll be stable not that decides if it's worth it or not.

I will soon go to trains or trucks - it's the logical next step at end of tier six.
If the color thing is just a visual thing I don't mind as long the trains behave correctly.

Yeah I forgot about the train signal thing which is possibly a big deal and that performance vary a lot between player to player.

In Satisfactory Mod Manager there seem to be a total of 756 mods of those 486 are U8 UE 5.1 compatible. CSS is working on implementing UE 5.2 which will break mods again until updated. Unless I am wrong the total number of mods of 756 would also include mods long abandoned.

  1. Why is the train signal a big deal? Is it affecting function and efficiency of trains?
  2. What is UE 5.2?
