The 9xx is going to be more iffy, but the 10xx series ought to do fine.
A 512GB M.2 Nvme SSD can be bought for 75€ or even less with most motherboards supporting that.
This is totally silly your computer will be fine, it obviously has to stay on low/medium settings on most stuff depending on the game but it will most definitely run it.
(edit: and regarding the ssd you can just buy a 500gb 2,5 inch drive for like 30-40 bucks. And while this is not necessary for UE5 it's just a strong recommendation I would say you should probably go ahead and buy one anyway because it's a massive quality of life improvement to any computer still using HDD as their system drive I mean seriously it will make your system feel like it's brand new compared to hdd)
Don't expect 200fps, but sincerely you don't need them anyway.
I'd only be wary if you run on windows 7 and your OS can't be upgraded, as Steam will end support for Windows 7.
This is a non issue, any potato made after 2010 can run windows 10
The SSD requirement I think is more of as recommended requirement because of the way the game loads chunks of map going forward. So worst case is some lag if fling yourself at high speeds with a hyper tube cannon (if those even still work). I plan to enter update 8 without an SSD and use my 7200 RPM 2TB Western Digital. I used to have SSD in other machines and I do miss the read performance so I plan to get one once day when I am not to lazy or frugal. I prefer to use both types actually. The OS and game installs on the SSD but any dynamic data such as downloads folder and save file location I like to have on normal drives.
The main reason for the step up in specs is because the old specs are stupid low and include graphics hardware that isnt even supported by the manufacturer anymore.
so as long as your graphics card isnt marked End of Life by the maker you should be close to what you need to play on the minimum or higher settings.
I'm not even playing on low settings, and with U5 low settings is still going to be good.

If it turns out an SSD matters, a 1TB can be had for less than $100

But jeez, do some research before sending everyone invites to your pity party...
But the fact that you don't have an SSD yet is a different story. SSDs are literally the norm right now, they aren't even expensive anymore so there is no excuse. HDDs are useful for long term data storage only anymore. I don't think the Unreal upgrade will make it any worse, but even if it did you only have yourself to blame anymore. Seriously, get an SSD.
But this is the real world... technology advances. If you can't deal with that and understand you have to actually update things from time to time then don't get involved in technology. Financially trying to keep up will burn a ton of cash no matter whether it is cellphone tech (3G/4G/5G), Wifi (6, 6e etc), Video Cards, TV's (1080p/4K/8K/240FPS).
Just wait until you get into the electric car technology. There will be new charging tech, battery tech, self driving tech, entertainment tech all embedded into your car. In order to keep your car up to date with what is going on in the world you will either have to constantly upgrade your cars Hardware every 5-7 years or trade it in.
