controller support
I know there is basic support in the game right now but it's not optimal and there is no rebinding the keys for controller, they said they planned to have full controller support at some point, but is there any chatter about when that will be?

So to clarify, we don't know at this point whether the game will have full controller support or not. We would like to have it but it all comes down whether we can actually implement it once the game is feature complete. In the past we've been somewhat confident that we would have it but as the game has grown in complexity it's difficult to know for certain whether we can map the existing controls to a controller in a good way. We also don't want to limit ourselves as to what additions we make to game just so that we can guarantee controller support in the future.

I know this is a bummer for a lot of people but we've really implemented the game with keyboard & mouse in mind first. But we'll see what happens in the future but for now this is how it is.

At or after release, like it says in every post in the 72 pages of results for "controller" on this forum.

That being said, there are also several community-created configuration files available through the Steam Controller Configuration interface. Try DrN's 360-style, or search for Satisfactory PS4 if that suits you better.

Im gonna be a Pleb here and kindly ask the Devs to provide full proper controller support...at their convenience...that being on full release of this game.

Id like this to mean that I can just plug in my controller and away I go to enjoy the game without having to configure stuff myself
A developer of this app has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Here is a link to my Xbox config with almost everything. It features lots of layers with full hotbar support and a dedicated copy button (RS Click).

Copy and paste the link to your browser. Open it up and apply the config.
steam://controllerconfig/526870/2809467595

For keybindings, swap interact (E) and crouch buttons (C).

Most controls are obvious, but a few mode shifts and holds are thrown in.
Mode shift dpad with X button.
Double tap X button for flashlight
X button to split item (right click)
Left trigger to select all stacks of type
Holds on bumpers activate radial menus
B button for reload
Select will mode shift face buttons
Select button to toggle Ctrl when in build mode
Select + B button for drive action layer
Select to open keyboard for assigning clock speeds

Unfortunately, bought this at launch on EGS, and have been waiting for Controller support to dig in further after playing a hundred hour or so with kb/m. Which means I can't use the steam controller config. Unless you know a way I could launch the EGS version with steam and still use that config. Nice job though.

Add Satisfactory as a non-Steam game.

Find Satisfactory in your Steam library, right click on it and go to properties.

Rename it 526870

After you do that, try to apply the configuration.

I also bought this game on the basis that full controller support would be forthcoming. Its a shame to read the above but given the complexity of the game it is understandable.

If you are not now going to implement this then you should immediately remove the text about implementing controller support from the Storepage as a lot of people will are being mislead by this.

A destiny like interface would be the best for controllers imo. FPS controls when no menus are open, when you open a menu then you control a circle which acts as a mouse pointer with the RS.

I'll be trying that soon, will let you know how it goes.

How long away is this game from full release?

Update 6 appears to be small update.

What is actually left in development, just more map expansion, exploration and additional resources to exploit?

It feels like Subnautica-on-Land

Not controller supported

FWIW, as someone who doesn't own the game but would like to, I would only ever buy it if it can be played with a controller. I can't spend the time I would spend playing a game like this sitting at a desk and using a mouse and keyboard. This question is the whole reason I have held off buying the game up to now.

I always assumed you would want to port this game to console at some point anyway, but reading that reply I guess maybe not.

You can just use Steam Input. I use it and it works.
