Days are darker than nights
During some days i get shadows that are pitch black, while some nights are so bright I have to turn down gamma setting.

Observing this with DirectX 12, while Dx11 is mostly just bright overall, but at least I can rely on it and keep gamma low.

I dont see the same ting myself but maybe I am used to it as I am on a plasma screen where blacks are very black to begin with.
but update 8 will change all this so maybe wait and see what that update looks like for you. They are changing over to UE5.1.1 and the lighting will be drastically different.

On an OLED at ultra graphics but haven't noticed anything that stands out like too dark shadows. Although yes the night is clearly just blue tinted noon.

for me the darkest time is right at the boundary from day and night...there is like 30 seconds of pitch black before the night time sun comes up. or moon or whatever that thing is.

Okay I'm not seeing anything remotely like this, maybe I'll check what dx I'm on.

For Video Range in your graphics settings, Are you using full RGB from your GFX card to Screen or Limited Studio RGB?

If you are using Limited, it would explain the problem with shadowing.

Just watched the livestream and if you go with the new optional lighting feature of UE5 then things are going to get real dark indoors.

Once the smaller sun rises the nights are not all that dark. especially if you play the game with brightness turned up. but even at default values its not all that dark overall. Its just the time between big sunset and small sunrise but that only lasts like 30 seconds.

dunno, this is midday, all shadows are just turning everything into darkness.

Well the factory and belt seem fine but yeah the gun seems pretty sharp.

The same thing happens to me, sometimes the shadows are totally black or a very dark blue where you can't see anything, restarting the game fixes it (at least in my case).

For me in the latest patch it seems like only when Global Illumination (Lumen) were enabled then the shadows sometimes got too dark. So I just disable GI and it fixed everything (with some realism cost)
