but update 8 will change all this so maybe wait and see what that update looks like for you. They are changing over to UE5.1.1 and the lighting will be drastically different.
If you are using Limited, it would explain the problem with shadowing.

For me in the latest patch it seems like only when Global Illumination (Lumen) were enabled then the shadows sometimes got too dark. So I just disable GI and it fixed everything (with some realism cost)
