Thanks, game is actually playable again, why do devs think these fogs add anything good to the game.

the fog has a performance purpose but at times its gets pretty crazy and most people have a good enough computer where the fog isnt really needed for performance
but in UE5 they said they are changing how things are rendered and making the chunk sizes smaller and a variety of other things which will lead to them being able to use less fog then they do now.
Old games had a very strong fog effect, but it was happening only at the area of render edge. This hazy smoke town style which exists in many games these days i really dislike, it is used only to try to mask bad artwork.
remember gta san andreas? even on mount chilliad you couldn`t see the world borders... without the fog you can see all the way into las venturas.
and yes, the coverup for less rendered structures is a thing, too. will be getting more obvious since coffee stain is planning to change the render system to smaller areas regarding update 8.
so.. fog will stay.

at about 13:00 ish (actually might want to watch the whole section leading up to this for more context) he talks about how they will be able to lighten the fog and why they can now lighten the fog...its because of how UE4 loads in assets by these really large map chunks that they wont need to have to worry about in UE5 where they can divide things up into smaller chunks and actors will now be able to be separated from map chucks and operate independent. This means the game will be loading and unload parts of the map more dynamically and will allow for longer view distances and thus why Jace says this will allow them to finally consider reducing the fog.
and then looks like ♥♥♥♥.
I'm just kinda surprised it's an issue, it never ticked off in my head as a thing in this game.
Huren Ogeko, if you think that is yelling or anything to complain about, you are going to have a hard time getting through life. Seriously you are complaining about something that was literally nothing.
Time when you had to design something good looking instead of just slapping filters on top of a pile of mess and call it good.
I seriously can't imagine anyone choosing the fog variant in following example:
The fog obfuscates ugly cliff sides, that does not mean the fog is good, it means the cliff sides need better work.

The fog can be good, but not when its permeating everything and anything as some cheap global filter.
I see nothing wrong with it, and I kinda like it, not to mention it makes some sense being a low lying area. The first one looks kinda jaggy to so that might be playing a part.
