Big Green Stinger

I found a ginormous green stinger in the swamps that even my explorer can't run over. Are there similar ones for the hogs, spitters, and hatchers? I've seen big hogs and spitters before, but nothing like the big green guy.

Haven't you come across Rudy yet? He's a huge, poison gas belching ambush predator and probably the largest spider in the game.

I think that is the same stinger he was talking about
there is only 1 or two og them that I came across...one was in a cave I had to blow my way into and to this day I regret blowing up those boulders without being prepared

as to the original question
stigners are the most dangerous things in the game when it comes to the elite versions
you have alpha hogs and johnny the jetpack hog but if if you know what you are doing you can more easily learn to handle them.../even the elite spitters are not a problem if you force yourself up close and personal with them.
but that one or two elite stingers can be a real pain and the only way I can manage to take them on is to run and pull range then turn around and shoot as quickly as I can and run another direction to pull more range....keep repeating with some inhalers on hand until the thing is dead.

its not even the elite ones that can jump...I the second largest ones can even do that but they dont spit out gas clouds like the really dangerous ones do
what funny is you have the arachnophobia mode on they fling themselves at you with a screeching cat sound.

arachnophobia is so satisfying...as it lets me bash the heads in cats...which I find much more fun then doing the same thing to spiders

There's a cave near the middle of the map that is small and has 2 of those green guys in there I nearly had a heart attack as I was about to grab the spoil of the fight when the 2nd spider appeared right in my face. :O

There's another cave behind a waterfall that's close by that cave which has 3. That one's easier as there's a lot of room to move unless you're unlucky and run into the section that has the 3rd spider. If you don't then you only face a max of 2 at a time. Plus you are constantly bombarded by radiation which is fun.

I also know at least one lives in the swamp...or at least it did until I build some stuff there as it doesnt seem to spawn anymore

Hahaha that is normally the way but you can stumble across themtoo. I saw one from a distance just standing like a tower. I got into the explorer and decided to run him over. First time the vehicle came to a dead stop while attempting a hit and run. Thankfully some spitters where nearby that distracted the green menace. so I could finish it off.
