Rotors are unlocked at tier 2 - Part Assembly.
Then you can buy rotors with the tickets in the awesome shop
I find that hard to believe. I'm fairly certain that I've seen the occasional stack of rotors at various crash sites.
Plus, restarting the game does literally nothing, seeing how everything on the game's map is always placed in the exact same spot, every single time, with zero variance.
This is just a clear case of the OP not understanding how the game works seeing how he is (somehow) not aware you can manually craft items, or that restarting the game from scratch does nothing at all when it comes to materials that can be found on the ground.
There are no rotors. See the wiki page on crash sites for the full list of currently available resources:
https://satisfactory.fandom.com/wiki/Crash_Site
Could have sworn I found rotors near crash sites as well, Rocky desert area seems like.
I haven't played in a while so maybe I just am not remembering right. Maybe is motors that I am remembering :)
but in order to automate them you need to make at least couple of them just to make the assembler you can use to make them with. once that first machine is going you are go 100% automated on it.
When did my no - hand crafting playthrough I found I had to hand craft a number of reinforced plates and a small amount of rotors to get going
So my rule was more of a suggestion I guess.
the rule as I wouldnt hand craft anything I could automate...and it was a very good way to play the game
If you skip the new game tutorial I think you are given at least one portable miner, which I think is technically the only tool you need to progress?
why did I not know about this
In my playthrough I made maybe a dozen reinforced plates and probably 4 rotors but I made every single portable miners throughout the entire game because I didnt even know there was a recipe to make those.
I also played through the tutorial so I make a bit of plates, and rods as well before unlocking the constructor
Well, in that case you can just buy rotors with tickets. Research Resource Sink Bonus Program, build a sink and a shop, get some points and get yourself rotors. You will be able to get everything you need for them through either random pickups or automation. Zero manual crafting required.
As for the portable miners, you CAN keep going on the portable miners you start the game with (if you skip the tutorial) until you unlock an alt recipe to automate it... It will be very tedious and painful but it's doable. It should be possible to beat the whole game with zero hand crafting that way.
