How to Enter Flight Mode?

I used the Advances Game Setting to enable flight mode. But I still can't fly. Hover and Jet Packs still work as normal. Is there something special I have to do to fly?

double tap space bar (jump) should put you into flight like in minecraft

Double tapping jump does nothing. I have tried everything and still cant fly. Must be missing something.

it has to be a really quick double tap, a lot quicker than the speed you were probably used to with the jet pack

Well, I tried that as well. I dont know what the heck Im doing wrong lol. Any other tips?

Had to practice at it a few times to get it working but it's worth it. I find some repetitive tasks, such as reloading biomass burners, are less tedious while hovering

The process I found that works consistently is to tap 3 times quickly on the spacebar and then hold on the 3rd tap until you begin hovering

Why does no one give a straight answer on how to do this? Ghost fly, bound to g, does nothing. Mashing the space bar does nothing. Toggle fly, bound to ctrl+f, does nothing. How do you freaking fly???!?!?!

I feel ya. It's a quick double-tap on the space bar... and don't touch anything while you're airborne - fly goes away! Once you're airborne use Space bar to go up, C to go down.

This is not working for me, there must be another step. I double or triple tap, my char is just jumping like normal in place.

I have difficulty double tapping the space bar myself. For some reason activating the Fly Mode in U8 is much harder than when I used the Just Fly Mod in U7.

I think how the game detects a double tap on the space bar has different timing then how one double clicks with the mouse, or how the Just Fly mod worked. Sometimes I can get the double tap to work, sometimes not. It is frustrating.

I have the Fly Mode bound to the F key instead of CTRL+F. Then I activate Fly Mode, by Jumping first, and then quickly pressing the F key. (Or jump off a cliff and then press the F key should work.) You need to be in the air before the Fly Mode can be activated like this.
This works better for me.

It's a seriously fast double tap. Tap space twice as fast as you can.

It's not mashing space bar because that'll turn it on then off. Very quick double tap space bar.
