Using Experimental with vanilla game currently. Going to do the Blueprint mod though once .8.2 goes to EA.
In the vanilla print I get 25 per floor with 2 floors for a total of 5GW per cube.
Chuckled that you are building mammoth batteries and are still under 10GW power production. I suppose thats really when they are most used as you ebb and flow with the power usage/production.
When Update 8 goes early access or EA I'm gonna start a Satisfactory Plus save there.
Once 8.2 is EA I will end the Experimental and roll back to that and add a couple Mods.
Roughly looking at what I have built now and whats to come I think it is going to end up 12 to 15 TW when done.
The blueprint designer in vanilla is 8x8 and 2 levels high of power storage's. With the mod, you get up to 12x12 with 3 levels. Since each of my blueprints are 768 GW's I can easily go well over 1 TW. My first storage building over 1 TW was about 2 years ago (long before blueprints).
I use mods to make the game different (don't use cheats). More resources, more components, more creatures, more fun. I've made over a hundred saves - each of them different. I spend little to no time with cosmetics, but I do use structure for realism (nothing floating). My supporting structures get pretty extensive sometimes. It depends on the mass that it's supporting.
I get the changing goals and adding features to keep the game engaging.
My current save is all Drone for movement of all items other than belts in the factory and at the nodes. One Giant Factory to do it all 2KM x 2KM standing in the middle of the map.
My 4x4x4 Battery Blueprint serves as a foundation block for building the factory and brings the benefit of being able to tie in power anywhere along the 8KM perimeter.
One interesting thing I found since you mentioned nothing floating. I too like the visual appeal of a realistic looking structure but this was just fun. You can place a painted beam vertical in each corner of the Blueprint that is actually partially outside of the print area. Not sure what its doing but when you then snap these prints together in the game they align with about a 1 M gap between each one. I imagine magnets holding them in place :-)
Not a good idea for ground travelers because you can fall through the gaps but I have Flight Mode on and rarely touch down.
That's a cool idea with the painted beams. As for other uses, I have made bridges out of them.

There is also a Mod, forget which one, that has a tiny battery in it. Not sure as I never have looked at it but might be able to increase stored power density with that one.
I am looking to Industrial Evolution to lower the total building count to be able to build higher throughput while reducing the number of assets and hopefully increasing stability of the game.
The !00+ milestones mod has a coal generator that produces 2,500 MW's, but it requires a special coal blend that requires a sizable factory to make. This mod was designed for a large group of players to complete as it has over 700 unlocks. I soloed it once and it took me an additional 6.5 weeks.
I can't find any battery that holds 2,500 MW's.

It offers 2 additional biomass burners - Mk 2 and Mk 3 (both are 60 mw - no difference of specs that I can see and look the same).
Power Storage
Mk 1 - 100 mw
Mk 2 - 500 mw (industrial Evolution)
Mk 8 - 1000 mw (belts and mines)
Coal Generator
Mk 1 - 75 mw @ 15/m coal
Mk 2 - 150 mw @ 30/m coal
Mk 8 - 750 mw @ 150/m coal
The U8 may offer an increase or not, but you can't use mods in experimental.
