How can I use the Object Scanner?

I've researched the Object Scanner, built it and I've researched things to scan. However, I am equipping it in a second hand slot and the pioneer won't hold it. I cannot bring it up or interact with it at all. Right mouse button does nothing when I have the sapper + the scanner equipped and nothing when I only have the scanner equipped.

Does anybody know?

I'm assuming you are using the mouse wheel to change your equipped tool and that for some reason your pioneer won't bring it up. If that's the case, idk. try verifying files and loading back in?

As for the scanner itself, i dont think it has a right mouse function. Left mouse opens up the filter window where you can select what it's scanning for at which point it works automatically and pings when you're pointing in the direction of what you want.

"Hand slot" is misleading. These additional "hand slots" that you unlock allow you to cycle through additional items via the mouse wheel, but you can only ever have a single item in your hands at any given time.

Right click cycles through the different scannables. The currently selected object can be seen in the lower left of the HUD, at least in update 8.

I've figured out how to use it, but I haven't bothered yet. I've found plenty of the stuff it scans for without its help. It's one of the things that made me wish this game was like Space Engineers and I could just toss it back in the assembler to get my resources back.

It's pretty usefull wenn it comes to Slugs or Hard Drives, otherwise i also find it kinda useless.
But you can use the Awasome Sink for 1.400 Points if you really want to get ride of it and the Materials needed are just a joke so thats up to you
