Do tractors/trucks collide when theres multiple on the same track?
My plan is to build a highway that connect to hubs. I also have one refuel station at my compact coal factory. So eventually I bet some trucks might collide? What happens in these cases? I'm in U8 if that matters.

Any details surrounding this would be highly appreciated, so I can properly plan this large project.

PS I am well aware there are more efficient ways of doing stuff, I just want to build an astetically pleasing world that feels lived in. So I want trucks! :)

Anyway, point is I've seen the AI kinda stall for barely few seconds, but then magically teleport from where it got stuck - way down in the canyon, off the road stuck on some rock, etc.

So seems like whether collision, drove off the programmed road in whatever manner, the good news is the AI will eventually detect it is non-recoverable and 'magically' teleport the vehicle back onto the last node it was on

I guess it's possible if you set drastically different routes and they end up eventually aligning, and you just so happen to be close by so they actually have collision boxes and they collide at that specific moment. Meaning: VERY unlikely.

Also, in case you are unlucky enough for it to happen, it will just correct itself after a while and things will resume. Of course this is all assuming you didn't put a ridiculous number of trucks on the same track. IF you have so many a new one arrives at a truck station every half a minute then yeah, expect collisions eventually.

That sounds great and answers my question. I can resume my project without too much worries :) ty

I plan to have 3 or 4 within the rocky desert biome, maybe I can shave it down to 2, as I need to test its effectiveness, as in how fast they do the route and how fast my storage fills :) Later I might connect the highway to the forest, as my refuel station is near its border.

Trucks can collide, but only if there's a player reasonably close.
If you're far enough away the game does not fully simulate the trucks, they just drift from waypoint to waypoint, so they won't actually collide then.

Fascinating, love it :) even less worries now.

They also go into "ghost mode" when they collide while you're within simulation distance, turning blue and transparent for a few seconds and just phasing through obstacles towards where they're supposed to go. There are cases where they end up behaving really weird, though.

Even if you're in range, and the trucks are on the same path, they actually do have some degree of collision avoidance. One will usually back up and out of the way for another to pass.
