Old versions.
Hi Pioneers.

Wondering if there's a way to go back to a older version of the game prior to update 6? i think it was update 6. We have made a huge base but in the new update that spot got reworked and 95% of base is inside of rocks and we are unable to reach materials and rework it.

Has been asked before and since it does not go with legal means the thread was closed so no.
but there is the interactive map where you can upload your save state and move parts or whole factories.

You can also use the Pak Utility mod to enable fly and noclip, to let you access inaccessible stuff

Yes in the long run no solution one comes also without that under the map have made it at the beginning about the Hypertubes. I would delete that completely either with the Interactive Map or as mentioned with Fly and Noclip
which also works with the Easy Cheat Box.
Delete everything and simply clean rebuild.

The only way to "get back" to older versions is to actually have a copy of it yourself. The game can be played offline, as I've done since day one without Steam.

In fact, technically you can have two or more on the same computer (EA + EXP f.ex.), but you can only have one connected through Steam for updates and such, of course.

I would like to see a mod that would automatically convert you earlier 'selves' into a crate with the items they originally carried. I don't want to have to blow them up or shoot them.

Just a couple years back steam used to allow you to install older versions of any game but I think they took away that option in 2021. For now you if you have an older version in stalled and dont let steam update it then you are ok but once you update there is no easy way back. At least no way I will recommend here in public.

One feature i would like to see in V1.0.
The ability to select game versions like Minecraft.

It certainly is if you distribute it. But if you do it for yourself privately then there shouldn't be any law preventing that as something like that would also make any mirror backup of your PC illegal.

"Thin ice"? You really need to explain that one for me, if you can.

There are zero "illegal procedures" involved here. What "manipulation" there is is running the game outside of Steam. Nothing else. Plenty of games on Steam allow you to do that and have been for as long as Steam has lived.

Launch arguments are fully open for anyone to use:
https://satisfactory.fandom.com/wiki/Launch_arguments

I use these three switches:
-nosplash -NoMultiplayer -NoSteamClient

In fact, on the store GOG, there are at least 99.9%(!) DRM free games and none of them require the client Galaxy - do you consider them all to be "illegal" too?

Anyone can do what they want on their own computer.

Yes others see differently the last thread with the same topic was therefore closed by the mod
you are basically not allowed to manipulate any data even privately
what you do in the quiet chamber so no one sees but in the public forum to write about it looks quite different.

It is not about DRM free purchased games
it's about bringing a Steam version to an old vversion that used to be even via Steam but unfortunately not for a long time.

First of all, even EU law gives you the right privately to learn and study if you dig into the code, but you can't share internal propriety code or anything related if you do some reverse engineering (or use it directly and release it as your own).

This is a completely different thing. Just copying files on your own computer and use launch switches is perfectly legal.

Besides, (and I've no idea what the other thread was about, couldn't find anything), all the mods have seen us talk about launch arguments day 1, so if the rules have been changed then by all means, tell me so.

There is no hard and fast rule or restriction about running an older version of anything that was or is publicly released although you can be restricted from using an older version to connect to online features as that might and probably will cause problems with the servers.
But generally older versions are not really available once steam removes them so you will have a difficult time finding an older version unless you have or know someone with a pc that has the version and hasnt updated it or maybe you have some old backups stored somewhere.
so even though its not illegal to obtain and use older versions of software you bought in a non-network environment it generally not allowed to distribute it for any purpose so websites you can donwload from are probably scarce at best.

So long as you are not decompliling or modifying someone else's work you wont run into much issue. Reverse engineering and modifying someone else's IP may or may not be a legal matter depending on the country you are in. but in the end of the day what you do for private use isnt really an issue as long as you dont publish it for others.

As always, we humans have an incredible affinity for redundancies and tautology. :)

Seems to me there are no thin glaze here.

I don't know about you but I generally adhere to the rule about staying away from topics that I have no knowledge about, but maybe that's why internet is such a radiant place...
