SAM Ore Theory
I have not done any research into this so the first comment will be from someone telling me why I'm wrong. Since there's no use for SAM ore I'm guessing since Sam is in all caps then it might stand for S.A.M. ore.
Substitute
Any
Material
So we can use it in place of any materiel we might be missing.
I have no basis for this. Just throwing a theory out there.

SAM Ore, which stands for Strange Alien Metal, is a rare resource found in the world.
There is the research.

Nice theory though.

Here my theory if that make sense. It might be implemented in the future Tier 9 and 10. Including The Mercer Sphere and the Loop. It maybe a new line of research in the MAM. In the Swamp area, two crash site need a Quantum Computer and a Superimpose Oscillator, two parts that is not in the game yet. That might be the Tier 9 & 10 parts.

One thing is sure. SAM ore will be a late game ore and it will be very heavy protected. Like Giants Spiders or Large Fire breeder.

They actually are in the game. Though they are only available via the FICSMAS event in the calendar.

Some interesting theories.

Personally I think SAM ore will be required for the spaceship that we'll leave the planet on in the version 1.0 release. Here's hoping anyway!

Thanks for the link.
Even though the name is wrong the application may be the same as I guessed since I read this from the wiki, "Its content will "mostly be used by players nearing the end of the game to solve problems around their factories they might not want to deal with as much at that point"".

Wouldn't leaving the planet be a violation of FICSIT code though? Aren't we supposed to stay there for life?

Why though? Thats not the ultimate goal ....
Surely the ultimate goal would be to create something that can provide resources to the rest of civilisation across the galaxy and fit into intergalactic trade routes.

I suppose so, however if that was the ultimate goal, then wouldn't they send a spaceship for you themselves? It isnt illogical for them to send something down from space, as they did with the space elevator.

Actually everything we send up the elevator is pretty much some sort of space ship part. so if leave the planet we just need to get up to where the ship is being assembled at the top of the elevator.

Yeah true they could send a spaceship, but since they've left us to be mostly self sufficient, it would also make sense for us to make the ship ourselves if local materials would allow us to.

That's a great idea (assume it's an idea rather than a known fact). It could still fit with the SAM ore theory (it could be required for the final parts of the ship).

I love the idea of the ship coming or being built, but I don't think it should be our escape. I think it should be a trade freighter which we can then use to start to trade products across the galaxy.

OMG this game could be enormous.
