The energy you can but simply distribute over the whole map because you need but nothing special once you have laid tracks everywhere it is even easier every station then has a power connection I have on the whole map everywhere 100GW queue.
I play with mods that make the game harder. My planet will stay energy-starved. I cannot afford to spam train stations without a good reason.
One to the stations at some point you have built the whole map and since you can not get along without trains and stations anyway.

By the way, I have very early as I unlocked the thermal power plants from the grassland to the 18 thermal places
either you do it or if you are too lazy you use cheat mods.

as for redstonish like features the game right now doesnt have any support for such things but the devs have hinted at some simple logic circuits that might be coming in the future around release. I suppose an ambition modder might be able to make their own system with a mod but I am not aware of any myself and it would be a pretty big mod as there is very little if anything they can link the mod into they would have to pretty much invent the whole system.
