Large quadrupedal rock monsters. Passive, but they block vehicles and construction. They like to migrate between unclaimed resource node for naps. Other mobs will not spawn around them. They cannot be killed, but sufficient damage will wake them up and send them to the next node. Scratching their soft bellies as they sleep causes them to purr.

this game often gives me vibes similar to a very old fantasy mmofps/rpg (possibly the first of its genre) called Endless Ages and that game had some really interesting monster designs id love to see in here.

one being the mad kidion bat, a huge flying creature that would start shooting beams of light at you the second u got too close, as long you stay within range it remains stationary while shooting at you from above, but once u move away it will chase you.

another very annoying flying creature it had was the Eyezora. a nearly transparant ghost-like creature that was basically a eyeball with 3 limbs attached to it. its ai was programmed to orbit around you at short-mid range like a planet while phasing trough any solid obstacles like the ground or walls, all the while shooting you with projectiles that deal splash damage, so it was able to hit u even outside the map boundaries. the key to defeating them was to fly around high enough (or away from any walls/obstacles) so they would reveal themselves

It could do with more non-hostile flora and fauna, a hand scanner that adds Wiki entries, and a writer that fleshes out the world with context. They have clearly been inspired by Subnautica so they may as well go all the way with that.

Each part of the map should have a unique creature, Sand Monsters for the Dunes, attracted by noise on the ground, hire Kevin Bacon for any voice acting here for the the story mode

Why do we have to always view creatures as enemies? Tired, boring overused game trope.

Its almost like untamed creatures see humans as enemies, kinda works for real world and digital game worlds recreating real world experiences.
