Train misloading
does the automated train just load/unload everything? Does it not follow the schedule I list?

My problem is in 1 of 2 trains...or both.

I have a train that picks up quickwire and then goes to another station to pick up silica. at the third station i told it to drop off silica. then onto a fourth station to drop off the quickwire. But it's dropping off quickwire with silica at the third station. (they're in the same freight car)

Or it's the second train which also picks up quickwire at the first station. skips the silica (2nd) station. At the 3rd station (where the other train dropped silica) it's supposed to just pick up aluminum casings. But is (maybe) dropping off quickwire into the silica while picking up the aluminum casings.

Is there a special way to program the schedule so that just one item of a mixed inventory is dropped off? Does setting the freight station to load/unload override the schedule?

No, if you have mixed items the train doesnt know. It just picks up and delivers. You need seperate cars and freight platforms for each item.

Simply build 2 fright stations: First for silica and second for quickwire. Problem solved

ugh...then whats the point of the schedule where I have to individually list items for pickup/dropoff at every stop?

You cannot tell a freight platform to load/unlock certain items for 1 freight car, it loads/unloads everything. The reliable solution is a freight platform for each item in the correct position corresponding to the freight car you want to load/unload at that station, or use multiple trains to avoid mixed item loads.

If everything unloads at one station you could just filter the mixed item station output through a smart/prog splitter

Platforms are not configured for what to pickup/dropoff, they are only configured to load/unload.

The timetable for each train is where you set what is picked up or dropped off at each station and each train has its own settings. If a train is supposed to drop off something, it doesn't care which freight station lines up with the car that's holding that item, it'll drop it off at that stop.

Are you sure you saved your station settings and the trains's timetable instead of discarding them or click the 'X' to close any of the the windows? Did you click on the item to select whether it was being dropped off or picked up? Check your timetable again to make sure everything is correct and was saved.

I just gave this a run by having 2 trains with one car each run through 4 stations each with only one platform, each with extra items in the stations and the cars all mixed that should not have been picked up or dropped off. After the loop, the items that should have been left in the stations and cars were still there and the items that should have been picked up and dropped off were.

hmmm...i'll check my timetable settings. did you change the station setting or left them all on load mode? I feel like the mode of the station shouldn't matter if the timetable already says what to do

The setting depends on what you want to have happen. I suppose the choice of load/unload is us telling the game which animation to play.

If you want a train to unload, the platform has to be set to unload. If a train stops station at 'X' and the timetable says unload item 'Y', but all the platforms are set to load, the train won't unload anything.
