How good/stable is the multiplayer?
Hi, I'm planning to buy Satisfactory, but I'd like to play together with my nephew. So I'd like to know how stable the multiplayer is - I think we will be max 3-4 players if he invites some friends, too.

Also... I assume for a closed session the player with the beefiest PC will host a server where the rest of us logs into, right?

You can invite players to your world or host a server (for details on that others might be able to help).
I played with 1-2 friends while inviting them to "my world" (the save file we all played on) and it worked pretty well. Vehicles like trucks sometimes were not displayed correctly on the map for my friends and there is a bug that shows already removed trees for people that join (no clue if that one is still around). Other than that no real issues we encountered.

That sounds okay-ish, a few bugs aren't too bad as long as it's stable without constant disconnects or crashes.. Thanks for your answer.

I started a new save with a friend for Update 7, and we haven't had many issues with multiplayer. It's not 100% stable; we did have a crash to desktop one day.... but that was after 4+ hours that day; we also don't reboot our PC's often, so they may have just needed a reboot anyways. Autosave meant we only lost ~4 minutes of work, so it was pretty minor.

Sometimes she can't see my marker on her compass; that's about it. For the most part, it's been pretty stable.

Bear in mind, it's going to depend on the quality of your internet connection; and the PC with the better CPU/RAM would make the better host....

CAVEAT: If the "Host" doesn't start their game, no one else can play together.
The "Host" could also play the shared world when no one else is around; so make sure to discuss and set rules before deciding who's hosting.

It may also make a difference if not all players are on the same gaming network (Steam vs Epic). I want to recall there is an option for play between Epic & Steam clients, but but I've never looked into it;

Ooh, that's good to know. But I think my nephew bought it on Steam (as I intend to too), so that should be no concern.
