If I hold lft control and the side button on my mouse it will only select what I want it to dismatle.

That seems to be the opposite of what I want to do.

This game is rare in that it is so good and so bad at the same time.

Thanks, I picked up 6 items of value from that video.

1) Hold down RMB on inventory item for ratio split
2) L-Ctrl for Global Grid (didn't realize there was a global grid)
3) Blueprints can be assigned to the hotbar
4) Thumb mouse for limiting the mass delete to specific object type (although I have to think a mass delete that ignores foundations would be a welcome addition)
5) L-Alt RBM to add a stamp to the map in first person view
6) "R" key for build mode when placing foundation (zoop is something I was also looking for)

Yeah, it's the "anti-version" of what I actually need to rapidly clear factory floors.

The Area Actions mod lets you define an area to dismantle by placing corners and height limits, set the top of the foundations as the bottom and everything placed on them will get dismantled (it doesn't dismantle conveyor poles for some reason)
I don't think you can do this in vanilla

Area delete would be helpful, particularly when it comes to replacing blueprinted 4x4 areas that have been pasted into the world.

Mouse4 is about as close are you're going to get to what you want. That being said, Mouse4 can quickly clear an area and leave foundations -- you just have to select one thing, wave your mouse around like a crazy person, and press delete for each object in the area.

Game time in this game is drastically misleading, since I'm incentivised to just leave the game running all day and night to accumulate coupons.

I probably have only a 1/4 of my actual quoted gametime.
