Does anyone else find the grid system infuriating?
I've always found the grid and snapping system to be annoying to deal with, but it is infinitely worse when trying to place blueprints. I just spent 2 hours trying to build a simple modular ramp blueprint that can connect to other structures. I tried tons of different iterations, but I could never get it to connect properly. It will just never line up the way I want, no matter which build mode I'm in. Tried a bunch of different hacks to change the way it snaps, but nothing seems to work.

I've never liked the "snapping" system that all games seem to use now. It always feels hacky and annoying. You spend most of your build time just trying to get things lined up the way you want and you always end up with weird clipping issues or other annoyances. In my opinion, if you have a building system in a first person game, you really just need a simple global grid system like Minecraft. All this fancy rotating and free placing just gets in the way and ends up limiting your creativity.

Satisfactory is such a fantastic game, but it's seriously let down by it's build system. I keep coming back to this game every few updates, but I always end up putting it down again out of frustration. I'm hoping they significantly revamp the system before the final release, but I'm guessing we're pretty much stuck with what we have at this point.

Some of the snapping got worse lately, I do agree. I generally build without foundations and when I try to line up a splitter or merger with a machine input or output it is going up a bit while lining up to the input/output. So yeah, there is some fixing needed IMO.

There is a global grid. IIRC if you are in the open and you want to place a foundation and you hold CTRL it snaps to the world grid.

But as for the free placing and the rotation I do not agree with you. Having that is what makes building with as little foundations as possible a possibility. And the rotating even allowes for circular building without mods (see here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Kv47ZnuiTI ).

The desire for Improved blueprint snapping is one of the things the devs are aware of: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JyMaZmsGu1c
