Does anyone know if you can zoom out to get a better view when building.

No, this is a constant source of frustration in the game.

The Hover Pack eventually helps you float over things and get better camera angles, but it isn't perfect and you won't get it for a while.

Plan your factory well with walkways and you won't have any problems

Walkways and 4x4 areas to drop your blueprint creations. Might as well start good habits.

Use Photo mode for zooming in on things. I do!
