Absolutely fantastic job with the dedicated server.
Check out the wiki for how to use SteamCMD to install and run it without logging in to Steam. This is how I run mine and play on the same machine.
https://satisfactory.fandom.com/wiki/Dedicated_servers
Satisfactory is one of the games you have to own to get access to dedicated server (which is extremely stupid decision)
Hopefully they will make dedicated server available to everyone after this post.
BTW: Do YOU know that you CAN run multiple games at the same from within the same steam session? What you're talking about is using ONE account on multiple different systems - which, of course, doesn't work - but that's not an issue of satisfactory - but of steam as a platform itself. So, your blame to the devs is very wrong as a) it's not their fault and b) they HAVE made the dedicated server freely available without you have to use an account which owns the game (which, btw, when using steamCMD only requires the login for download/update - but the server itself runs without any issues - see ArmA3 for example: you have to have an account with arma owned to be allowed to get the dedicated server - but once you downloaded/updated it you can start it without issues have to login into any account).
Teach me senpai since i cant find it anywhere on my second - free server account no games purchased - Just server running only ;) Tried on windows 10 computer and linux ubuntu(This one was going to run server)
Start satisfactory on your computer one
Start satisfactory on your computer two
See what happens (This is how satisfactory server is most likely running as many other games that run this kind of server that you have to own to run) [not talking about steamCMD here]
See 7 Days to die for example. You download dedicated server from steam and run it without any problems. Or Dayz dedicated server. Or any other good game :)
So I did my usual workaround of putting steam into offline mode on the dedicated server machine. Not sure if that's is why or not, but the dedicated server throws up a bunch of warnings and errors in the console. I can see it and connect to it from my gaming machine, but can't create a game (no errors or warnings, just doesn't work).
steamcmd.exe +force_install_dir C:\GameServers\SatisfactoryServer +login anonymous +app_update 1690800 -beta experimental validate +quit
The server will be unplayable within a few days or even a few hours if you progress fast enough, enjoy.
You mean to be able to download and to run the server *without* having to install Steam at all? Yeah, that would be helpful indeed.
The only annoyance is that when I launch the server on another PC, Steam complains about simultaneous logins and I have to log out of Steam, but the server continues to run just fine.
Make a shortcut to the EXE with "FactoryServer.exe -log -unattended" and you won't even need to do that. Just run it with the shortcut.
