Great work with dedicated server
Dear developer. Did you know:
- Steam wont allow you to play 2 games same time DRM
- I cant find satisfactory dedicated server from my inventory on my server account
- I wont buy second game just to run dedicated server . Where to get one i thought i got dedicated for free since i own the game ?

- How to run satisfactory server when you cant play 2 games same time ? DRM
- Or satisfactory doesn´t have DRM ? ???? I dont even wanna try i thought you knew this ...

Anyone tried can you play satisfactory dedicated and game same time without steam disconnecting all other accounts ?

PS. family share wont work either since it will kick you out from server once i start game in main account. (tried this with other games that has similar "kids dedicated server"

Absolutely fantastic job with the dedicated server.

The server works fine. Steam is the problem. As far as I can tell, Steam even tells you to make a separate account for servers. I don't know if you can see it in Steam without also having the game yet.

Check out the wiki for how to use SteamCMD to install and run it without logging in to Steam. This is how I run mine and play on the same machine.

i will check the SteamCMD ^^ ^thanks

Satisfactory is one of the games you have to own to get access to dedicated server (which is extremely stupid decision)

Hopefully they will make dedicated server available to everyone after this post.

Yeah I can confirm using steamcmd with the flag "+login anonymous" as shown in that linked wiki works without requiring a separate steam account. Then you can just run the server executable without ever logging into steam on the machine running the dedicated server.

I actually do have a separate Steam account and I was able to get the Satisfactory Dedicated Server over there without a problem, and I don't own the game on that account. Even ran it briefly because I wanted to check resource usage for something. Still not entirely useful to me yet because no mod support still on it, which is what I'm waiting for... if it'll ever come.

It actually IS free on the anonymous login - for both SteamCMD (what you should use for dedicated servers anyway) and regular free steam user account without any games purchased.
BTW: Do YOU know that you CAN run multiple games at the same from within the same steam session? What you're talking about is using ONE account on multiple different systems - which, of course, doesn't work - but that's not an issue of satisfactory - but of steam as a platform itself. So, your blame to the devs is very wrong as a) it's not their fault and b) they HAVE made the dedicated server freely available without you have to use an account which owns the game (which, btw, when using steamCMD only requires the login for download/update - but the server itself runs without any issues - see ArmA3 for example: you have to have an account with arma owned to be allowed to get the dedicated server - but once you downloaded/updated it you can start it without issues have to login into any account).

Teach me senpai since i cant find it anywhere on my second - free server account no games purchased - Just server running only ;) Tried on windows 10 computer and linux ubuntu(This one was going to run server)

Start satisfactory on your computer one
Start satisfactory on your computer two

See what happens (This is how satisfactory server is most likely running as many other games that run this kind of server that you have to own to run) [not talking about steamCMD here]

See 7 Days to die for example. You download dedicated server from steam and run it without any problems. Or Dayz dedicated server. Or any other good game :)

+1 to everything Noby's said so far. Can't find the dedicated server on a free account, can't run the dedicated server and play the game on two machines (running the dedicated server on the same machine on which you're playing defeats the purpose of the dedicated server).

So I did my usual workaround of putting steam into offline mode on the dedicated server machine. Not sure if that's is why or not, but the dedicated server throws up a bunch of warnings and errors in the console. I can see it and connect to it from my gaming machine, but can't create a game (no errors or warnings, just doesn't work).

use steamCMD,

steamcmd.exe +force_install_dir C:\GameServers\SatisfactoryServer +login anonymous +app_update 1690800 -beta experimental validate +quit

The server will be unplayable within a few days or even a few hours if you progress fast enough, enjoy.:verybad:

yea use steamcmd or use epic for the dedicated server. Easy

I don't understand the problem. I run the dedicated server and the game at the same time on the same machine as well as on two separate machines. It just installs and runs like any other Steam game. I don't have to use steamcmd at all.

You mean to be able to download and to run the server *without* having to install Steam at all? Yeah, that would be helpful indeed.

The only annoyance is that when I launch the server on another PC, Steam complains about simultaneous logins and I have to log out of Steam, but the server continues to run just fine.

Make a shortcut to the EXE with "FactoryServer.exe -log -unattended" and you won't even need to do that. Just run it with the shortcut.
