Is there any option to lock the slots in a storage?

Sadly not but it might be a feature in the future. (Since every other factory game i know has at least disabling of storage slots)

I'd like that, and would also like a slider for quantity a Building can have in the Input Buffer ranging from exact required amount to max stack (current default now) of the Parts the Building accepts.

Edit: liquids would be wonky so no sliding scale on them.

If you want to keep a supply of intermediate parts for your own personal use, make extras and overflow them to an easily reached storage box.

as long as you create more that the next builder needs then put a storage between the two builders and you'll always have spare parts in the middle

Storage containers are best used as end-of-line or spurs. There is little reason for in-line storage containers. If you would like to store some product from a production line, use a smart splitter to branch off to the container itself, with overflow continuing on the production line. Use portable miners to fill the extra slots of the container that you don't want filled with product.

Just use Smart Splitter the best from Satisfactory to control your input and output.
Here is my second automatic sorting warehouse the surplus goes into a production line and there the surplus goes into the scrap press.

It allows you to control which items goes where and allows you to seperate overflow from the conveyor etc etc
