Longest productive train.
A couple months back I had to stop at 73-74 freight cars as the station leap frogged over the 73rd car and filled up the 74th empty. But now I know the trains are still working properly, it was just me. I like, long, trains and I can not lie. It's a world circuit with 9 trains @ 74 cars each. I was wondering if any other players agree and/or if they have even more massive trains.
I realise that long trains aren't as productive, I'm just having so much fun here.:special:

Most of my trains have 3 to 4 wagons, some only one and almost 40 pieces, so I do not like something big and would not know why I should have something like that.

I have one train that has 14 freight cars hauling oil, sulfer, coal, bauxite, and caterium. It runs from the west coast swamp up through the desert and all the way back to the east coast.

I had one with 4-5 engines and about 30-40 wagons. Had to go up steep hills so had extra engines. But always planned to increase its size. I was working on a mega train myself to connect all areas of map with my outposts. But it was becoming an issue to unload carts correctly. So next time "this time as had to redownload game. Had it before steam but lost it :-( " i plan on making multiple trains on different tracks supplying areas.

That would be so cool. When I was working in the states and got caught at a level crossing, you would wait for ages as the longest freight train barrels across you. Far bigger than the freight trains we have here in the UK.

Adding that too satisfactory, interesting idea :steamthis:

In US once wife and i had to stop a crossing for a train. We smoked 2 cigarettes and listened to like 30 songs on radio lol Was around 100 cars long. Think it also had like 5 engines in front. Was huge!

The weird thing about trains is irl the locomotive doesn't have to be in the front and their propulsion provides equal speed in both directions.

When you start playing a game the locomotive always has to be in front and goes only one direction. Goes for any game with trains afaik, a stupid difference imo :)

Normally they still have engine in front and back on single line tracks. But they should in games go both ways I agree. Though one reason they dont is games use engine as marker for where to stop train. So cars line up with unloading/loading stations better though... should still line up with go in reverse so no idea lol

Thanks a lot for these replies guys! Another note, I have 1 engine only for each train, and get this, the circuit goes to the highest point in red forest and back down again.

I've only built 1 train, to connect a few factories remote for Aluminium & Computer production.... I think it was 1 Engine, 4-5 wagons.

How would you even build a station for a train with 70 wagons? Stations have to be concurrently connected, right?
Even if you used elevated skyrail above all terrain, 70 Freight Platforms long seems like it would be nearly impossible to manage.

Yes, my 'top of the world' station spans the entire red forest monolith. It isn't impossible to manage but you're right, it isn't easy.

That's pretty advanced :)

Ok, Bravo ..... that is impressive, and a bit terrifying.

I would ask what you transport with a train and station that size, but I can only imagine the answer is "Everything".

ha haaaaa, well, i tried to put everything on until I ran out of room(leap frog effect), nothing like re-bar guns or biomass of course, just production items.
The front of the train hosts early tier items, and as you move towards the back (as in screenshot) you can see my belts going towards my thermal prop. rockets at the end. And sadly, I only have 8 Manufacturers making them because of my sloppy logistics.
