Is this game overly complicated?
Heyo! My brain breaks at cursader kings, and it breaks with redstone in MC, would I be having a bad time with this game if I go in on it? Looks like a lot of fun!

It really only gets complicated if you try to build too big, and/or try to make everything working perfectly with max efficiency. Everything is basically infinite, so you decide just how crazy you want to get with it.

If you think redstone, even the basics, in MC is overly complicated, then you'll think the same of this game.

From a basic level, it is mainly just simple math. You really don't even have to worry about fine tuning if you don't want, it just means things wont be as fast.

You don't have to do all the math since update 6 has very detailed machine info. You can over and underclock until it agrees with the input speed of the next machine. Its 'easy peasy'.

Not complicated at all. Not even Tier 7/8. The correct word for those last 2 tiers is "chore", or "Annoyance".

It's relaxing & simple really before those. So much so that it literally has no challenge to it. 7/8 kills the game for a lot of people because it's not fun. But you can get about 200+ hours in the game just messing with t6 and under things.

It's complicated BUT you can take it at your own pace. There is no rush.

That makes it quite different from Crusader Kings where you have maybe a minute to make a decision.

Is it complicated? Not when you have a paper and a pen to write down what to do. The rest is a bit of thinking and building.
