Report a translation problem
Press X and look at the colour of the ficsit standard swatch.

If you right click on a swatch you will see what kind of buildings will be standard built in that swatch.
There are checkboxes for the various items, checking one will set that swatch as the "default" for that item.
If you have accidentally wiped out a color swatch, the default colors are listed in the dropdown at the bottom-right of a given set of sliders.
Just setting my walls to use the regular swatches worked fine.
To put it another way, the "custom" swatch paints a building with the assigned color, and all the other swatches paint the building with the material of the swatch itself; this can be most easily observed by changing the color of the top-left most swatch and watching your whole factory (barring anything painted a different color, of course) change colors to match.
