This gives us a work of art map and world that no autogenerated map could ever hope to achieve. The quality of the work product is amazing.
In so far as all this is true, the map will always stay constant unless the map creator adjusts aspects of the map during an update.
The current map takes on average 10-12Gb's of memory space to fully load on ultra settings.
It probably will not grow, but there is that option. Also an option, once out of beta, is the ability to for them to deliver new maps as DLC's or go in a different direction like leaving the planet and going to that lava world thats in orbit. If you zoom into it at night using the P key you can see there are already space elevators on it blinking away.
Oh I'm not discounting this - but most factory games are proceduraly generated - like it or not - it is kind of an expectation by definition.
Again - they are quite good - but it would be nice to have a random twist to it. I'm happy either way.
