The most important thing to use slugs is on miners.
Beyond that, you can build more machines to craft more things in less time.
It's generally a bad idea imo to overclock production machines. This is because when you overclock a production machine (EG: Producing iron plates), the power draw is significantly higher than if you just build a second machine.
EG:
1 constructor at 100% clock speed takes 4mw.
1 constructor at 200% clock speed takes 12.1mw- Over 3x the power for 1 more machines worth of crafting speed.
1 constructor at 250% clock speed takes 17.3mw- over 4.3x as much power for 1.5 more machines worth of crafting speed-
2 constuctors at 100% and 1 constructor at 50% (totals 250%) takes 9.3mw
Slightly more efficient than that though,
2 Constructors at 83.3333% + 1 constructor at 83.3334% (Totals 250% exactly) takes 9mw
So, Unless you have oodles of power to spare- Just place a second constructor/assembler/producing machine. Save your slugs for miners as there are a finite number of mining nodes on the map- But TONS of space to build in.
Side note: There's also not much point overclocking power generators iirc- They produce the same amount of power per fuel no matter what, and also 250% is actually about 2x the base value.
EG:
Coal burns for 4s in a coal generator to make 75mw of power- totaling 300mw of power per coal, 15 coal a minute
OC'd to 246.2288% it takes 2s per coal for 150mw of power- Totaling 300mw of power per coal, and 30 coal per minute; which is identical to just having 2 coal generators.. No gain or downside at all compared to just having a second coal generator- With a loss of 3 power slugs.
Don't get me wrong; If you've got spare slugs after your miners are topped up and power to spare, by all means, plop a few in key machines to make em work better. But prioritize miners first whenever you can do so and still belt the material out of it fast enough.
8,96 MW, almost 9 MW
