Dedicated Server
Hi, me and my friends have been playing this game alot lately and we would like to host a server of our own so we don't have to wait for one person to host the session.
Is there a decent server host service that we could use?

My dedicated server eats around 4. The system only has a total of 8 so it crashes ocassionally so that's indeed sketchy and will not be enough with just 1GB

I'm currently hosting mine on a 16 GB machine it's running fine

I am not sure if they optimised dedicated server memory yet, but they did mention in the release stream of update 6 that it is consuming a lot more than intended.

My server I am running is using 8.4Gb at the moment, with no one logged in.
Dedicated server is still in experimental and a lot of optimisation passes will be applied in the future.
Correct. I am running a server on a CentOS host, it's exceeding 16GB of memory for a fairly simple setup, however I don't have a dedicated GPU, not sure how much the GPU cache would offload from the memory. The recommendation before update 6 was 12GB-16GB for 1-4 people. Obviously update 6 has now boosted that higher.:steamfacepalm: Feels like that the entire map and all resources are being loaded into memory... that's a pretty expensive way to handle it, but it's also a hell of a lot easier to program.

Edit: Sorry for not answering your question. IT really depends on your technical understanding of hosting. Any cloud host can do it (AWS Linux is very similar to Centos/RedHat) although I feel that Ubuntu would be a easier setup. CentOS, I would probably grab 7, as they EOL 8 and CentOS 9 makes things "interesting".

The real issue is that with some much utilization you most likely won't want to pay for it, and some of the "out of the box" hosting services may be hesitant to host it since the server isn't very well optimized (in my opinion). Alternatively, if you have a spare computer you can run the server on it and use port forwarding to allow your friends to play.

Woah you can't lie on the internet there!
The game server can't barely run with 2gb of ram

I run a server at home using Cubecoders AMP. Super simple to setup and update server.
