Persistent radiation?
EDIT: It would seem that moving far away from the area (as in, the opposite side of the map) before doing the save / reload thing does make the radiation issue go away. The pass between the Dune Desert and the Swamp remains problematic, but that's because at least one uranium chunk is actually hidden / unreachable inside the rock cliffs. Thanks again for the help, everyone!

I've noticed that when I harvest uranium meteors / chunks, the radiation warning / AoE damage persists even after I've destroyed the node and trashed the loose ore. Anyone else have this issue? Is it intended?

I've had that a couple of times, I have something radioactive in my inventory and still taking radiation damage even when it's gone.

Saving and reloading usually clears it for me.

This was a bug in U5. Apparently it's still there in U6... In U5 I had to restart the game to stop it.

This was the story for Radioactive items in cargo and conveyor lines as well, the last I checked. Fresh nuclear facility: little radioactivity. Reload: everything's radioactive. Reload again: hope you stockpiled your filters.

For me the bug occurs when I sort my inventory with radioactive material in it. No sort, no problem.

I appreciate all the quick replies. To be a little more specific... for me, the issue is that say I see a uranium chunk / meteor just out in the world. Typically I try to clear them out just so that I don't randomly start taking radiation damage. Ever since experimental / Update 6, I can find the chunk, mine it (take a ton of radiation damage), and then trash the ore. As soon as I trash the ore, the radiation damage stops... but the area where the chunk USED to be still gives off the radiation damage effect even after nothing is there. To give a "real world" example, there's a path between the Dune Desert and the Swamp that is blocked off by explode-able boulders and some uranium chunks. Even after I destroy the boulders and mine--->trash the chunks, the area still gives me radiation damage as I pass through... with the severity matching where the chunks used to be vs. what was always open ground. It's persisted through multiple saves / restarts.

not been funny pal but why would you harvest uranium , your supposed to mine it and send it to a set of machines that will eventually make nuke power.

DONT pick it up

Always wear a hazmat suit and filters when your near it

I thought I was clear -- I harvest it to get rid of it. These aren't the infinite deposits, they're the chunks that give ~50 pieces of Uranium. I wear the hazmat suit all the time now (post Update 6), but still prefer to not have uranium just lying around. Again, as I thought I made clear, prior to update 6 I was able to harvest, then immediately trash the ore to remove it from the world... but now, even after removing the ore, the AREA in the WORLD remains radioactive, which seems unintentional to me.

The Custom Damage mod was just updated. I am going to play the game in a few minutes to see how it works in U6. I used it in U5 and it worked fairly well.
There is also a No Radiation mod that should help as well.
And, a Waste Shielding mod to make storage containers that don't emit radiation.

The first two mods are cheats, but the 3rd one looks like it just changes the game a bit without making it so much of a cheat. You can't delete the new storage containers (or send to the Awesome Sink) once you fill them with the radioactive waste which is probably a good thing. It can be researched at Tier 7.

I'll let you know what I find.
Edit: The new update to Custom Damage works well. There is now a button in the damage settings to disable all damage without having to set each item to 0 percent.

With the first two mods enabled, I can place uranium in my Inventory without any damage, and Sorting my Inventory doesn't cause any issues as well. Harvesting the small deposits, I get no warnings from the game about damage.

On the other hand, if I go to a large deposit, where you can place a miner, the game starts telling me I am getting damaged even though I am not due to the mods.
So the mod doesn't disable the damage warnings from anything.

Without the mods, I did get damage when I am around the small deposits and did see the Area Damage Effects as the OP did. (I Didn't remove the mods to verify if the Area Damage Effects came back in the latest release.)
