Don't mess with Uranium :)
I thought Storage Containers would prevent the radiation, my mistake... first Uranium mine I found I made a nice long conveyor belt back to my base. The more Uranium in the Storage Container the faster the radiation kills you.

I of course placed this right near my main base/respawn point. Had to do numerous corpse runs to get the Uranium away from my base... you make it about 2 steps at a time after opening your previous death crate and collecting all the Uranium... live and learn I guess!

A tip .... i found uranium on the far side of my main base but the problem was i had already side aside a man made island of floating foundations on the opposite side that had my nuke power stations on it.

At the point where my uranium ore was needed for nuke power i made a vertical tower and put 2 vertical conveyors in it , the height is 2 conveyors linked as high as they will go. I then made a horizontal conveyor that passed over my entire base and back towards the uranium mine.

This means i can walk around the main parts of my base without hazmat suit , at the point where nuke waste is turned into plutonium pellets i made a long conveyor linking to another small island where the pellets are converted into something that you can sink

the ore can be sunk so you get a steady points flow

lol, way back when i first started, just after it hit steam,i made the mistake of chipping off a single piece of uranium from a chunk, having had no how fast that would kill somebody without hazmat protection. that was... fun.

I just did this last night thinking that a little piece should be fine, right? It wasn't. Took almost an hour to trash that nugget so I could recover my poor irradiated corpse. I guess some lessons you gotta learn the hard way lol

I did much the same. Luckily I didn't run it all the way to my home base, so a big corridor of the map was an obstacle for me for many days.

nuclear power needs alot of planning beforehand. And dont build a neclear powerplant without the possibility to get rid of the waste.

I did the same, but had an idea to build an awesome sink to clear out the storage. Worked perfectly; then when I accidentally picked up a piece- my solution for dealing with the instant death was JUST pick up the uranium then run the eff away from the rest of my inventory- freeing it up to be safely retrieved later.

I felt extremenly intelligent the day I put uranium in my inventory because I wanted to move it. Glad im not the only one :D

hmm I guess in a way that's a thing they can add in the future, storage crates that trap the radiation. I mean hey it's probably not the greatest thing to stash that stuff but I'm sure everyone would agree people make mistakes when it comes to dangerous items. I... still find it annoying happening past a random rock with uranium in it out in the middle of nowhere and wondering where I'm getting hit by radiation from. The rock didn't glow green so I'm like what's this thing and half my health just vanishes as I got close.
