Stick a conveyor pole a few clicks from your building and feed it from the pole straight in to your machine. Ignore any other belts for a minute. If it snaps it means the direction is wrong somewhere down the line.
If you place a belt by first clicking on something that does not impart direction, like an empty conveyor pole, the belt direction will always be from that to where you click next.
When connecting belts, keep an eye on what color and direction the arrows are. You cannot lead the same color arrows into each other as they are going in opposite directions.
