what resolution? and what model card? I have the evga xc3 black lhr version, I read they run hot but I am a little concerned with my temps. Been playing for an hour and its not hot above 69c peaked at 70c once and not since
EVGA 11GB GTX 1080Ti FTW3
1440p 144hz G-sync TN panel
Yeah, this game runs hot for me just like every other early access game I play. Most AAA games I play run around 5-8 degrees C cooler. Same goes with my CPU temps.
I'm assuming there will be more optimization done for the 1.0 release. Either way, I wouldn't be worried about those temps. Do you run any software that lets you adjust your GPU fan curve?
Yes I have MSI afterburner to watch it and X1 Precision to adjust. I have it on an aggressive fan curve its at 80% fan atm, but I am also getting 144 frames at 3440x1440. I need to try and limit it to 60 and see what I get
49 to 57c issue resolved
Cheers! Glad that worked for you!
I'm playing at 5120x1440 on an older Samsung 49 inch screen which they say is g-sync compatable but is not on Nvidia's list. The card is Nividia's own 3080. FPS is capped at 60 too.
cpu is watercooled, not the gpu, I was just curious if this game runs hot cause my gpu was getting toastier in this than spiderman and fallout 76, but its because i forgot to cap my fps.
Nice, is it an ultrawide 32:9 or still 21:9? I went from 1920x1080 240hz to 4k 60hz. Loved 4k, but the monitor died, bought a 2560x1440 165hz and couldnt accept the downgrade is clarity, went for the ultrawide. Still a downgrade from 4k, but I get 144hz and it looks better than normal 1440p. Also seems the sweet spot for this card on most anything I toss at it.
game auto set everything to max settings.
at 60 fps its 74 degrees
at 144 fps its 84
Games don't "run hot", I don't understand where that belief even comes from. Even if a program decided to utilize 100% of your system resources, none of your components should run too hot. Heat issues are entirely on a hardware side.
For a program to actually overheat your component (that normally doesn't even under 100% load) it would have to do something ridiculous, like forcing it to run at a higher clock than it should. And I think it's fairly obvious that nobody sane would make their game do this, were it even possible (probably is, not sure).
Yeah, I can combat the vertical loss by going to 2560x1440, or when needed Ill drag out the old 240hz 1080p but I agree once you go ultrawide its hard to ever go back. This is my 2nd ultrawide. I wanted the Samsung Oddesey but this one was on sale for $350, it was a steal not to take it.
But my issue is it auto puts everything to 144hz when games load, and I forget to nuke it to 60 of I dont need it, and that was why my temps went nuclear on me.
I read zotacs run warmer as well. Not sure your case but my old 1080ti had similar temps until I got a bigger case, might be something to consider
