Yes, they are all locations within the same map and you will eventually be able to travel to all of the locations.

Grasslands - South
Rocky Desert - West / North West
Northern Forest - North
Dune Desert - North East

If you're not afraid of spoilers, here's the link to the web hosted interactive map. The continent is a pretty big place.

I just started the game and elected to start in the Northern Forest. After a couple hours in game I watched the Update 6 video. The Dev says that all stuff in the Northern Area will be zapped to create a new area. WTF Does anyone have further info on this?

The Northern Forest itself is safe. However, the canyon area below the cliff may be getting changes, while the entire Spire Coast region north of that is getting remodeled. From the mountain plataeu to the East to the deep river/bay to the West, just before the Rocky Desert (there's 4 Normal Coal nodes there).

if the landscape is going to be changed does that mean we could loose some of what we have built , i have made several walkways in the sky to the forest to get to nodes that would be impossible on foot

They'll still be there, but if the surface terrain changes they might be submerged below it, and as such inaccessible. Machines should still run as long as they are still connected, but you may run into problems if resource nodes are moved, because the Miners or Extractors will no longer be on resource nodes.

Again, if you have any meaningful construction in the Spire Coast, you should dismantle it by the end of May. They are currently aiming to have Update 6 go to the Experimental Branch in June, and when it goes to the live version will depend how buggy it is (or isn't).
