The Northern Forest itself is safe. However, the canyon area below the cliff may be getting changes, while the entire Spire Coast region north of that is getting remodeled. From the mountain plataeu to the East to the deep river/bay to the West, just before the Rocky Desert (there's 4 Normal Coal nodes there).
They'll still be there, but if the surface terrain changes they might be submerged below it, and as such inaccessible. Machines should still run as long as they are still connected, but you may run into problems if resource nodes are moved, because the Miners or Extractors will no longer be on resource nodes.
Again, if you have any meaningful construction in the Spire Coast, you should dismantle it by the end of May. They are currently aiming to have Update 6 go to the Experimental Branch in June, and when it goes to the live version will depend how buggy it is (or isn't).
