Else, no.
Out of curiosity, where do you normally start? I think biomass issues stem largely from starting location. I have no issues lingering in tiers 1 and 2 in the Northern Forest or even the western Dune Desert, but in Grass Fields or Rocky Desert I feel I need to rush coal.

Definitely not the case. There is more than enough biomass in every single starting area of the map. Even in the dunes there's a big oasis that has more than enough biomass to last you until coal. OP just doesn't understand game mechanics, like every single one of these posts.
I think the Dunes area is the easiest since the coal and water are so close.
The area you need to travel through (to get to the coal) has more than enough Biomass to get you started.
With Biomass, you trade this time for that biomass energy/Coal.
If a farm was created, what would become the "this" in that equation that isn't time?
I would assume the “this” would be water, but since water isn’t available until tier 3 it kind of defeats the purpose. However, renewable biomass would open up the possibility of using alternative recipes to convert biomass into coal, but at that point it wouldn’t even be that great for energy generation between needing a water extractor, biomass grower, and constructor just to get biomass into a usable state for automation, not to mention needing a specific alternate recipe.
Zero waste zero spill zero spirit.
Very much contra zeitgeist, very much pro petrochemical corpos.
Hollow fun.
I dunno, sounds based to me
