Too much walking simulating
I really like this game, but I don't have the time to slog through the early game. I'm an adult with little time.

Could we please add some early game transportation that the player starts with? Why would you be dropped off on an alien planet with no personal transportation anyways?

Doesn't need to be anything fancy or overpowered, just a ride to take away 90% of the running around from resource point A to resource point B. It's extremely tedious not to mention just adds wear and tear on the finger joints for no reason.

Some high-tech roller blades that hover/skate along the surface is a good idea, or a cheap jet-bike that is sent down to the planet with you.

By far the boring walking is the worst part of the game right now, this game is unplayable for me in the current state. I know it could be so much more so I am not judging, merely trying to help.

You can unlock Blade runners relative early which double your Speed. I never saw running from resource a to b as such a big problem since the resources are pretty close at the start.
If its really that Bad for you you could upload your safe game on satisfactory-calculator (safe game editor) and unlock the Trucks/explorer and spawn a few so you can use them.

i would recommend -40 -145 as a starting point - all of the starting ressources are in close proximity...and they are all "pure"

I shouldn't need to grind 5+ hours in order to unlock fast move speeds or such. It adds nothing to the game, indeed, completely detracts from it.

Than do what i suggested. No need to complain again if the solution was already given

Well it all depend on where you land. The North Western Forest resources are mostly around the area.

And yes... lots of walking, until you start unlock some road vehicle and the hyper tube. But you will need to build the infrastructure first. The positive side is .... during the exploration on foot, the goods at your base is being pill up and will be ready to collect by the time to come back to base.

I mean its an upgrade to default move speed; like how the Hoverpack is only given in the last current tiers as it basically gives you flying as long as you got power nearby. Why should you not be tasked to unlocking an upgrade?

I get what your saying mate but like anything that gives you speed, hovering, heck even flight like the jetpack or vehicles are something logically you should need to unlock on the basis that its more or less giving you a boost in movement.

Using an easy start location helps but does not solve the problem. Nor would it let busy people enjoy the other maps.

The walking simulation adds nothing to gameplay. An early game transport with limited use (make it consume biomass or something) would greatly skip through useless "hold w key" parts.

Even if it's something as silly as an alien "hyper berry" that you can find on plants or bushes that greatly increases movespeed for a limited time.

Not trying to make later transportation craftables useless, just trying to make early game less painful.

"Waaaaah, I don't wanna work for anything in a game where grinding in the main purpose"

This is literally all I'm reading from OP.

The game is PURPOSEFULLY inconvenient at the beginning, hence things like biomass power being unable to be fully automated, requiring "babysitting" to be topped up occasionally. This is for the express purpose of pushing you towards more convenient, useful methods of power generation. The same goes for transportation. There's no reason to go out and explore the world before tier 3. Hell, the game is designed to actively discourage you from doing so because of the aforementioned babysitting of burners, and lack of quick transport.

TL;DR: the game wants to to say "This is ass, I should progress and get better stuff"

The Game will not change because YOU see walking as useless....AGAIN i gave you a possible solution to skip the running. Use it or Not, but Stop complaining

You can do everything you've said without tedious "hold w" parts.

I am a huge Factorio player. One of the most popular mods for Factorio, Industrial Revolution 2, gives the player a starting vehicle. Does it make the game easy? Hell no, the mod is 10x as hard as base factorio. But instead of wasting time holding w, I actually get to spend my time doing interesting things and solving difficult problems.

"Grinding" is not real gameplay. It's terrible design and makes the game worse. There are plenty of ways to add challenge without grind. I predict bad reviews for this game on release if this issue is not addressed. The early game is terrible quality because there is so much walking before automation. It's boring as sin.

Okay bud, I'm SUUUUURE that the.... 97% positive reviews will all turn around once the game is out of early access. Lmao

Literally complaining because a first person game has walking in it. smh

This thread is giving me a good laugh. As a "huge factorio player" im amazed that you are so shocked that people dont mind spending a minute here and there walking from point a to point b. Thats not grinding, thats just normal that you dont teleport everywhere. You are complaining that there is progression, essentially, and claiming that over 97% of people will be changing their release since they dont start out with a rocket car... Blade runners take a couple hours to unlock.
Just download a save with everything unlocked, and possibly a fully built factory if you dont want to actually work for anything in the game

Blade runners and zip lines can both be acquired within the first hour of the game if you truly wanted to rush them. You need only unlock tier 2 part assembly for rotors and then grind out the first half of the caterium research line to unlock them.
Tenzek Dec 31, 2021 @ 4:35pm
Someone who enjoyed this type of game would just think about how to make their movement more efficient and their structures more organized to support that.

Overcoming your problems by complaining on the forums is an entirely different style of game.
DaBa Dec 31, 2021 @ 5:25pm
Seems like a completely unreasonable thing to complain about and a very personal problem that I haven't seen a single other person complain about.

And if it's such a huge issue, then there are tools that help you move around. Just get them, Bladerunners are available pretty much from the beginning of the game, you need to unlock the MAM and find caterium and that's all. Early game stuff! It doesn't take 5 hours to grind for them either, there's zero grind involved actually. It's a normal, reasonable progression system.

And if that's not enough, then you have to ask yourself why are you even trying to play a game that involves a lot of walking around and progression systems that take time to get through? Would you also eat a big mac and complain there's meat in it? :csd2huh:
