Way to "snap" to global grid?
I remember there was a way to snap everything to a global grid in the map? So everything aligns? I think that was added on update 5 but I don't remember how to do it....

hold Ctrl while placing ... additionally if you hold Ctrl while placing onto another foundation you can rotate in 10 degree increments versus the 45 degree default rotation.

No but apparently there was an option added to snap everything to a "global" grid in the map, so no matter if you're building something on the other end of the map it will still align with everything else at the end...

You know what I mean? They talked about it on one of the last videos coffee stain

Yes, Kraft51 is right. You hold Ctrl while placing a foundation (while you are moving the hologram), and it snaps to the world grid.

Maybe you have it bound to a different key.

I think the global grid is only for foundations. If you try to snap machinery to the ground then it doesn't seem to work unless there's something else nearby for it to snap to.

What a guy! I'd thank you for the points, but I don't even know what they're good for. You deserve some in return!

has anyone mentioned yet that this world grid doesn't work? or has nobody built to the scale me and my friend are?

this ctrl snap to world grid doesn't work.
it snaps to a grid but it sure as heck isn't a world grid.

if 2 roads from diffrent biomes meet. they do not line up.

for example. these were all 3 snapped to "world grid"
one started 3 foundations away.
and the other 2 started in 2 sepperate locations in the red jungle biome but far appart.

https://prnt.sc/YS7RS9Zitoc3

and as you can see. none of the 3 line up.
so the only way to get a global grid. is to make one by starting off of one foundation.

the only thing that matches up with these foundations. is their north south east west orientation.

(sorry for the necro. it's the first google result for "satisfactory world grid". so maybe don't lock it either because others are going to be comming here now with the 1.0 update. and locking it isn't going to make it not show up as a google result. you can also simply unsubscribe if you don't want notifications)

This felt so heartwarming, that I had to award you even though I was not at all involved in this conversation until now.

hah I just realized this after commenting. World grid does work, but with some conditions.

You can rotate the foundation 45 degrees when placing, and if you have one foundation at 45 degrees facing NE(northeast)/SE/NW/SW, and the other facing N/E/S/W, when they do come together across the map, they will not align. So always make sure it isoriented properly.

Also, if you place 1m foundations, opposed to the larger 2, there is an error in placement where it won't actually be on world grid. So starting a build, always do it with the larger foundations.

If you have something not alligned to world grid and build a foundation nearby holding ctrl there is a chance it will snap to the building nearby and not the world grid.

Another thing is that the foundations snap vertically in the middle
meaning you get 2 meter increments on 4m foundations, 1 meter on 2m foundations and 0,5 meters on 1m foundations.
If you start with a 4 or 2 meter foundation in a new place you get a whole meter height difference all around the map which is really workable.

World grid works fine. At least two of your foundations just aren't on it. Were you using blueprinted roads?

Yes, true. But once you laid down foundations, you can snap machinery on it again. That's how I do it. My whole factory is snapped to global grid.

Neat trick, especially when things went to messy with belts lol. I kinda new here, but enjoy the process of satisfactory. But seems need to restart over either way on new map.
