You want a minimum of 2 foundations distance between signals on the same track. For regular straight long track, you want to break them up with block signals about 25-35 foundations
Then when you have a complex junction with tracks crossing like in the middle of your pic, you want a path signal at each entrance to the junction and a block signal at each exit.
-Block signals on staion exits and entrances (Like where the track meets the station?)
-I need to break up long sections of regular track into 30~ foundation long sections, using block signals?
-Something like this? https://imgur.com/a/si3lxeY I dont really understand the logic yet
When I watch them they do alright, when I don't - they can work perfectly for 10-15 hours and then suddenly lock for some reason. I think there's a bug somewhere.
The solution is not to use 2-way lines I guess.
I think ill make a nice road-system instead, and use the trucks, since they at least are reliable and works right away xx
When update 5 dropped, my rail network was over 90km, I had to signal the whole thing. It took a while, but once done it just worked. https://imgur.com/a/ouKj6gi
If the tracks are one way, a sign on the right hand side. If they are 2-way, a sign on each side. And the separation between signs along the main road, I do it every 10-12 foundations, more or less.
I have a few dozen trains that move from different production centers to a redistribution center, carrying and taking raw materials, and it works perfectly for me.
Signals appear like they're just randomly deciding to work (or not, usually they decide to just not work) but there IS some reason to it.
When you hold a block signal, the tracks are all color coded to show which parts are different blocks. Use that to help figure out how the signals work.
