Train signals
I can not for the life of me understand how im supposed to place train signals.. Ive tried so many scenarios im going insane. I have a 2-way main trainline going to some factories, and the system works great with one train.

But i need more, so can someone please explain to me where i would need to place Path & Block signals?

You want a block signal at the entrance of every station, and a path or block at the exit.

You want a minimum of 2 foundations distance between signals on the same track. For regular straight long track, you want to break them up with block signals about 25-35 foundations

Then when you have a complex junction with tracks crossing like in the middle of your pic, you want a path signal at each entrance to the junction and a block signal at each exit.

Let me know if i understand

-Block signals on staion exits and entrances (Like where the track meets the station?)
-I need to break up long sections of regular track into 30~ foundation long sections, using block signals?

-Something like this? https://imgur.com/a/si3lxeY I dont really understand the logic yet

Almost. When you have a junction block of track, every entrance signal must be the same type. If one entrance signal is path, all entrance signals must be path. So on the left, where you save station path block block junction, that should be station block block path junction

Sheesh alright, imma continue trying to understand this crap xd Thanks for the help!

My 2-way train system works, but sometimes trains meet each other and I don't know why.
When I watch them they do alright, when I don't - they can work perfectly for 10-15 hours and then suddenly lock for some reason. I think there's a bug somewhere.
The solution is not to use 2-way lines I guess.

So i made a roundabout instead of an intersection, it works fine but i still need to spam the main-line with block signals so trains dont just stand still waiting for another train to reach the other end.. So i dont really know if im gonna continue with trains.

I think ill make a nice road-system instead, and use the trucks, since they at least are reliable and works right away xx

Unfortunately yes, you do need to place block signals all along your lines. The whole point of blocks is only one train can occupy a block, so the more blocks you have the more trains can fit.
When update 5 dropped, my rail network was over 90km, I had to signal the whole thing. It took a while, but once done it just worked. https://imgur.com/a/ouKj6gi

The key is that, when placing a sign, 2 sections of track are defined. At a crossroads, I define the entire crossroad as a section, placing signs at the entrance and exit (this will prevent 2 trains from entering the crossing at the same time and colliding with it). The same for the stations: each station a section, and each entry or exit route to the station, another section.

If the tracks are one way, a sign on the right hand side. If they are 2-way, a sign on each side. And the separation between signs along the main road, I do it every 10-12 foundations, more or less.

I have a few dozen trains that move from different production centers to a redistribution center, carrying and taking raw materials, and it works perfectly for me.

Thank you for the input guys, im making a huge ass truck station and highways to replace my train network for the moment, untill i want to start using trains again.

I'd suggest you play around with the signals some more, because be honest: you won't come back to it anytime soon and trains are soooooo helpful.

Signals appear like they're just randomly deciding to work (or not, usually they decide to just not work) but there IS some reason to it.
When you hold a block signal, the tracks are all color coded to show which parts are different blocks. Use that to help figure out how the signals work.
